http://dailycaller.com/2015/06/01/not-a-single-woman-passed-the-ranger-course-three-can-restart/

"Not a Single Woman Passed the Ranger Course." Yeah, this is gonna be a problem. "The Army stated Friday that not even one woman passed the requirements for the next phase of Ranger School. This means that out of the total of eight women left in the grueling, two-month long course at Fort Benning, Georgia, five are set to drop out.

Rangers... Most of you probably know. For some of you who do not know, Rangers are Special Forces.

The military has relaxed requirements for other areas of the armed forces for woman to have a chance, but one area they can't ever relax on is special forces. One of the reasons we value our military is that they don't lower their values, even if doesn't fit today's social mores of women being equal to men. The only way women will become Army Rangers is if the Army decides to change their standards.

Perhaps money spending, complaining, seduction, and fashion should be added requirements for these courses, so as to even the odds.

Keep the standards consistent for men and women. If they want to create a special support class for women with lower standards, that's fine, but we don't lower the standards of the military, thereby endangering the lives of every Anerican citizen, to coddle people's feelings.

I might get crap for this but I'd rather Rangers keep a high standard than have them become less effective for the sake of inclusion. Sorry to any women who want to be Rangers but you're just gonna need to work harder. Its already clear they allow women to try for it, so if women truly want equality they should prefer a woman earn it like a man does as opposed to getting in because they relaxed standards.

Most men couldn't qualify either. I've never served, but the requirements for special forces are well known for being brutal. Only the best of the best should be allowed, plain and simple.

As long as the standards remain objectively relevant to the job (and I think they are) there is no issue. Equality of opportunity is the issue. As long as women are allowed to try and fail for the same reasons as men who fail, there is no issue.

Stow your sexist BS. I've suffered at the hands of discrimination, and it's no laughing matter. Just yesterday, I tried to sell my eggs to a fertilization clinic, but they said I didn't meet the standards because I'm a man. When I tried to pay my way through college by becoming a surrogate mother, I faced similar discrimination.

My complete inability to meet the physical demands of my job is no excuse for workplace discrimination! #EqualityNow!

Women are weak. They shouldn't be in the military. Or the police or fire departments, for that matter. This is simple evolutionary fact. Men, during their evolution, had a lot of pressure to evolve from wars and competition to mate. So men became muscular, smart, and competitive. Women, on the other hand, only had evolutionary pressure to reproduce and raise children. So women evolved to be more emotional, more friendly, and more dependent.

You need male hormones to grow muscles, and women can't naturally produce male hormones.

@superadam: while woman are at a clear disadvantage from men, to say that they shouldn't be allowed to have those positions is absurd. If a woman can prove themselves to be just as effective as a man then to deny them that right is incredibly sexist.

I have a friend who went for Ranger school. He's a tough little guy. Passed the regular military training with flying colors.

Ranger training was booked for the hottest area of the country at the time with well over a hundred degree weather. Since it was so hot, they gave the recruits some sort of pill that was supposed to help them retain moisture. For my friend, it made him vomit a lot so he actually lost fluids. He just pushed himself despite the pain and dehydration until day three he had a seizure and blacked out at the end of a several mile run.

Special Ops training is hard even for badasses.

Standards should be unisex. If you make the cut you get in, if you don't you don't. Judgment shouldn't have anything to do with sex.

Seconded. The man pushed himself to his absolute limit.

As the friend of the guy who collapsed, it was pretty funny.

It was sad at the same time since he really wanted to be a Ranger and he lost his job with the National Guard when his position was eliminated which put him in a bad spot, but we both laughed about it together. I mean, what are you going to do? Crap happens.

I fell down a mountain the other day and sprained my ankle. A few years ago, I would have been severely ticked off at God, myself, and the world for this undeserved injury, but today, I'm grateful it was not a break, that I managed to climb back up the mountain to safety without requiring outside help or further injuring myself, and that I didn't fall further or land on rocks which could have seriously injured or killed me.

Physically, mentally, and emotionally, we all strive for things, and we take some hard hits. We fail, and it hurts, but you can whine about it or you can laugh about it and be grateful for what you still have. I've learned these lessons from my own experience and from people much wiser and stronger than I will ever be.

Get up. Learn from your mistakes. Continue on the same path or pick a new one, but keep going. You might not make it to your goal, but you'll get further than someone who chooses to play the victim.
