I am had a recommendation to do a video topic on sexism in comics. I think we can all agree that there is still sexism in comics today and I think it will be a great video. I am going to get photos of people and narrate it like I did with my organizing comics video. Which is posted on the bottom. You do not need to watch the organizing comics video just want to show the example of how I will narrate some photos but I am going to try to get a lot of photos. What do you guys think? Do you think people will like it?
Next video topic for Comic Uno. What do you guys think of it?
As soon as i get back on you-tube (have to remember my name and password :]), I'll subscribe and watch these :}
Personally I think this is always a very sensitive subject and more or less it always starts a fight. Cause everyone has different interpretations of what sexism is. For example X-Women which was notorious for its Sexual exploitation of women I personally saw it and liked it for its art and story. Despite how the women were depicted in the comic they were still drawn brilliantly and the story itself was fairly solid. Many people disagree with me and say that women should not be drawn that way at all. The best thing would be not to be biased. Though women are often exploited more men are also. For example every heroic man or Villain you see has a muscular build and an attractive face. Overweight or slightly less attractive males do not often appear in comics, and often when they do they are usually used as the front for some kind of joke.
Also talk about how Sexism in comics might actually be necessary. We don't live in a perfect world and the comic universe sure as heck isn't. Talk about how subjects of sexism might actually need to be addressed in comics. For example talk about how Wonder Woman (though not recently) is a strong and beautiful woman, but she is not frail and weak. How she doesn't need to look up to a man to stabilize her own identity. Focus on how more often those characters that disprove sexual stereotypes are often more well received than those characters who are stereotyped.
I like this idea, and I'm interested in what you have to say about it! And yeah, the way you presented the photos and narrated was nice and smooth. :)
By the way, my comic book collection is probably the only think I do keep organized! =P

Yeah, I'm not against a discussion on sexism as long as it's actual sexism and not just a session to bash men and that it stays fair. However, I don't know how fictional characters can be victims of sexism.
