New York State passes Same-Sex Marriage!
*CLAPS, CLAPS, CLAPS*
6 American States, where I can now marry whoever I want to. And this makes me smile. A lot. Maybe in my life time I will see this country I love, grant me every right of equality...

Thank you for the positive response. :D
My state, the great state of Washington, has work to do. We will have to see what kind of message #SeattlePride will send the state this weekend.
Well.... I think the new law means you can marry someone of the same sex, but not necessarily whoever you WANT to... What if that person objects? LOL! I'm just playing...New York State passes Same-Sex Marriage!

I can't believe only 6 American states legalized this... I won't stop complaining until at least 40 states can accept other that gay human beings are their equals.

Oh, yeah. You are right, my ex-girlfriend certainly will NOT marry me. She would however celebrate with me. ;)
So this is why you didn't respond to my advances.LOL Jk Jk

word.
Great news! Go New York! 6 States down, a bunch of other states and countries and millions, and millions people of other people to go! The law being allowed to recognizing the love between two consenting adults? Eh, not something to get pissy about. World won't end tomorrow and straight children won't start raping each other.
I am very happy and proud for New York and my fellow humans (I swear I am not a parademon). Being the pessimistic cynic that I am though, bring on the other states and countries!

@B'Town: Agreed it is crazy how people are agains't this in the first place, it hurts no one.
I kind of understand how it happens that people are against it. Not that I agree anyway, but I understand that more than anything they are afraid of how this could affect their beliefs. My mom for example sincerely believes I am going to burn in hell if I don't begin living as a straight woman. It is sad. So, very sad that she feels this way, but I understand how she got there. Her upbringing never gave her a chance to see the world in any other way. I can't be angry with her for it, she knows no better... I do know we love each other and I pray she will one day, see the world with a more open mind and heart. This is what I hope for all of us.

Yes, hahah. Still you have made me laugh and smile... Kudos to Canada!
@fbdarkangel: California finally making it happen may be a huge influence in the western states passing marriage equality bills. I hope they are inspired by New York to get it done.

I started tearing when i heard the news....=] THANK YOU JESUS
Yes, me too. I was far more emotional when I heard it then thought I would be. New York could be the catalyst for change across the country. Also, just the thought that more people are beginning to support equality for everyone, makes me proud and helps to alleviate some of those old stuffed down feelings of being "less than", that I grew up with. It is amazing how beautiful feeling accepted can be. I grew up thinking "I don't give a crap, what anyone thinks of me." And that helped me survive. But it isn't really healthy. What I really wanted was to be accepted and loved, not judged.
I want to thank everyone here for the support. All the clapping is a happy thing for me. :D
@aztek the lost: really? because France just last week rejected their gay marriage bill. I don't think it's quite moved on yet...Its mandatory for for someone to say America sucks in every thread where politics is mentioned regardless of whether or not we're actually doing better than other countries as far as the topic at hand goes because people think it makes them look cooler

I'd just like to mention again, my state got this thing going in the first place. : )
So do you have one of those sweet, always makes me grin, Boston accents??? For you my dear, here is how America has stood up for equality so far....

You are right, I am usually, a little flattered when guys flirt with me. haha. Much much more flattered by the girls though.

I nearly did not post this blog, because I am doing my best not to bring my political beliefs to my CV community of friends. For the most part I come here for fun and to learn about comics. I avoid talking politics here, in most situations. As much as I want to see change here in the United States, I am NOT one who is going to bash her. This is a great country, and I sincerely believe we do our best collectively.
Last night, I was so darn happy I felt I had to share that joy here. I am grateful everyone has been respectful and that this has not at least so far, opened a door for debate. This thread for me, is about celebration and I am so happy to see so many feel the same way.

@B'Town: I have no problem with the thread and I've always been a supporter of gay people's right to get married it just bothers me when people talk about America being backward about this when while we are giving gay people the right to get married one state at a time there are still places where just being gay is illegal there are even a few places that consider it an execution worthy offence
And I understand, there are those who in the face of American progress or generosity, inevitably point out negatives in an attempt to diminish her. I am grateful, the majority have not responded that way. Thank you for all of your support for equality. It is your sentiments for change and equality, that are needed on a wide scale to influence our leaders in each state to stand up as did New York.
