My Girlfriend wants to read Spiderman, what should she read?

We saw The Amazing Spiderman the other day and she told me she wanted to read Spiderman now. I can't give her classic Stan Lee stuff because she'll get bored with it ( crazy, i know), Ultimate Spiderman is great but it isn't continuity or 616 universe stuff and she wants to read things relevant to the current Marvel U. She wants to read about MJ, Gwen and Peter relationships, the green goblin and the lizard, etc.

What would you recommend? She's into indie comics but not superhero stuff so i'm in trouble here, help!

Maybe The Amazing Spider-Man?

Well I think either The Amazing Spider-Man or Web of Spider-Man is pretty good. After that try and give her Ultimate Spider-Man.

@rufug: No Turning back is amazing, spider island was amazing as well.

if she want Gwen and MJ and she doesn't like old school art then the best option she has is Ultimate Spider-man...I'd also recommend Spider-man: Blue...there's some great Gwen stuff in there

Somebody watched the new movie. New comic readers should not be given old comics, it just doesn't work. I myself (partially new) despise old or "original" comics. The art is horrible and the story lines are always so weird. I haven't read much Spider-man, but I will say you should probably go with Ultimate Spider-man, then once she's hooked, get her some older ones.
