Poll Must ask, Is Street Fighter offensive? (46 votes)
Since we live in a pc era where people can not even differentiate between stereotypes and caricatures, do the classic characters of Street Fighter ii offend audiences today?

Mmm this coming from little miss politically correct. No. I'm not seeing it thought I don't speak for everyone.
An Indian friend of mine (who aspires to be a Yogi, but doesn't want to upset her parents) thought he was cool when she saw him.
No its not offensive to me. Why would it be offensive exactly? You mean racist violence big muscly guys or what? Since the term offensive is a pretty subjective so it would be nice if you could further clarify how you defining offensive in this instance.

I think the OP refers to many national stereotypes incorporated in the fighters which is generally seen as offensive rather than the violence itself. Tbh, it doesn't bother me that much. This kind of thing only rustle the jimmies of most politically correct people. For instance, Blanka is from Brazil and he is depicted as a green beast man with electric powers and I never heard any Brazilian cry out "racism!", in fact he is everyone's favorite fighter here.

Blanka even loves pound cake! =D
I'm pretty much the first to call out "racism" for these kinds of things. However, never really noticed it for Street Fighter. But hey, that's probably because I'm not a fan.
I'm not,up to date on Stereotypes(Cause I'm full of love :D) Yet I doubt the Turkish stereotype is a 7 foot tall red man with blue lego Afros . Hakan is to ridiculous to be offended by :P (again I speak only for me)

Whenever someone is offended I just remember that set by Steve Hughes
I think they made wacky characters for the sake of being wacky.
Like if they made Ken(American) a laid-back jokester, no one would complain.

LMAO "Tatsumaki Senpuukyaku" xD
The Japanese are not really connected to the real world, they don't know what is fashionable in the west and they aren't schooled in political correct ness
I don't think they are racist but they can be very ignorant of the larger world around them, they live on their own island of manga, conbinis, kogarus, pachinko, ramen, sushi, tsunamis, volcanoes and anime
Dragon ball is worse.
Mr. Popo (is an immortal djinn who Resides at Kami's light house with Kami in Kami's Lookout He is bound there for eternity as the gardener and caretaker. He has served every other Kami (God) of the Earth since the very beginning of time . He was trained by the most recent Kami himself, he also trained Goku so he would be able to fight Goku.
and strange commercial adverts

you mean.. he's not?
Street Fighter ( 1994 live action film ) was very much Offensive...
Yeah, that's the only thing from Street Fighter that ever offended my sensibilities.
if you see a big, ripped hairy guy and you say oh what a Russian stereotype then the makers of the game aren't racist.....you are.
Sonny Chiba's original Street Fighter film is offensive to women.. Seriously watch it. The protagonist is a badass pervert (like a lot of Japanese heroes).. But yeah.. Watch it!
