Ok, so there's a topic on here some where asking "which movies, series etc need to be remade" however noticed there was not one asking which movies should NEVER ever be touched!

So post away, I'll post a few offhand I can think of that should NEVER EVER be remade or rebooted.

-Back to the Future-This is just a classic 80's cult classic that should never be touched.

-Lord of the Rings-Let's face it, when ROTK wins you 11 academy's tying the most ever at an award show, makes ridiculous money worldwide and does the book a justice, I doubt anyone will ever come close to doing better much less giving us a great a trilogy as Jackson did.

-Star Wars-I'm all for seeing the older err I mena 4, 5 and 6 films updated which they did anyway but not so much remade. No reason to.

-The Crow-I know this is said to be rebooted but I really don't see why, Brandon did a great job I can't see any actor doing better honestly. I'd rather they make a whole new movie under "The Crow" label but someone else, they can follow a few different people from the comics.

-The Hobbit-I know the third one/part isn't quite here here but still, again Peter Jackson does a great job and I don't want to see anyone else touch these films for a remake idea.

Ok, all I got for now. Post yours!

Wholeheartedly agree on the LotR/Hobbit part. There's no way to up those movies. I'd happily watch movies based on older books like the Silmarrilion though. And new content from the LotR universe would also be welcome. Same goes with rebooting Star Wars to be honest.

MCU shouldn't be rebooted for another 20 years after the last film comes out.

Really?

I mean I am not the biggest fan of how remakes are currently handled but there are some great remakes out there, that Id say are superior to the original.

What? I understand LotR, but The Hobbit? Those films pale in comparison to their predecessors. They're not bad by any means, but they are slow, stuffed, and boring at times. There is no reason why a 300-400 page book needed to be split into 3 movies. IMO, they lowered quality just to increase revenue....

Considering how bad most remakes are, I'm quite all right with Hollywood trying to be original and not rehashing old ideas.

@ Buttersdaman000: The hobbit was like that dude, but seriously the only way to add more action afterall its before lotr saga, is to alter the story which would suck. Bet you anything if someone screwed with the hobbit that much just for sake of 'more action less story premise' he'd be turning in his grave. But the boring factor is subjective anyway, take star wars 1...uh i mean 4. Boring as hell for long@$$ time, took 30 years just for lucas to answer so many questions etc via the prequels which werent that great compared to the originals if you ask me though i enjoyed revenge of the sith. All that being said, the 4th star wars not exactly full of action. Thats my view about that.

The reason why hobbit went three parts instead of 2 aside from more money was to create more of a bridge between hobbit and lotr timelines which in movie terms, im fine with. I dont feel sacrifice in quality, just stretched which they all do...hp, sw etc and hobbit could all been shorter.

@xwraith: I hate to be the bearer of doom here but i read they plan on remaking blade runner.

If they got a really good actor, I wouldn't mind the Crow being remade. I love the movie and series as a whole but a high budget modern one would be amazing. Eric isn't the only crow. Given a good story, they could make a new one.

Back to the Future seems like a popular answer, but I completely disagree. I think it would work fantastic in a modern setting. Have them go back to the 80/90's...go foward to 2040+. It could be awesome. If you try to do it with the same time period then I agree, it would suck.

My answer would be Fight Club.

Every movie at some point should and will be remade. Just because the previous did so well it doesn't mean we should deny another creative talent the oppotunity to give their spin. Even if its bad it'll just highlight how good the original one was and there's always a chance another person may do it even better.

Nothing should be untouchable. Thinking movies should never be remade seems close minded and counter-productive.

@jay0253: I must admit, never heard anyone til now have any complaints about T2 lol.

First one was very good for the limited budget they had but could be better by today's technology i admit. T2 practically defined and set in motion a new CGI technology and was great, so can't complain there. To this day it's considered the best in the series.

No movie should ever be remade. If you're not creative enough to come up with your own ideas, you're in the wrong field.
