Ghostbusters. Blast me all you want for that, I've heard it all and I still stand by it. Obviously, the actors are too old, and the franchise had difficulty in the live action department coming off with a sequel that had mixed reviews, and really nothing else in years. The animated series did well outside it, and action figures, comics, and games sell to date, proving that the franchise itself has incredible moxy. Remake Ghostbusters in the way Star Trek was and reignite the franchise in full force. The argument against this would be it would taint the classic. First, I can say many classic movies have been remade and it's already proven that isn't always the case. Personally I feel a sequel with the old grey crew and outdated management would taint the classic more, even more than part 2 did, as well as letting the whole thing die before or thereafter would. Again, the animated series was a remake in itself, and very serious production and it came off well. I get what the whole deal means to Akroyd personally, given his father and all, and his continued grip on the series, but the man just turned 60. Maybe it's time for him to let go (and certainly to let go of the blues for Gods sakes!). Anyone seen Star Trek 6?
