I mean, out of all people, who would have thought Gus Fring would die? And when he exited the room, I believed that he actually survived! But then the camera panned, and we all know where that lead.

Kamina getting sucker punched and killed in Episode Eight of Gurren Lagann.

This WAS my reaction when I watched it the first time ages back but actually was my sister's reaction when we watched it together.

'What... but... why?'

I'd assume most choices would be from things other than comics because most deaths in comics are predictable and the ones that aren't, aren't shocking because a character that has no significance gets killed off and without good reason.

Just completed Mass Effect 3, after holding off for, what, 9 months? Heard bad things about the ending, but decided to give it a shot regardless. Gah! I chose this ending, and was naturally devastated by the results. And I was having a "thing" with Garrus...... Oh, and Spoilers ahead.

Skip to 25:07 or so for the actual scene.....

So, I got extraordinarily devastated at that scene - then discovered that there was an extended cut, which clears things up a bit, and makes me less sad. So, happy days?

@Samimista:I don't think she's actually dead - wasn't there a terminal that suggested that Halsey thought Cortana could overcome rampancy? Also, the fact that they were focusing on Cortana's will for humanity suggests there's more to come from her. Why spend so much time doing character development just to kill her off in the beginning of a new trilogy. Granted, we may not see her again in the next game, but the one after that - guaranteed.

Yeah I knew most of this already. But even so it's just sad. I'm sure she'll be back.

The death of Delta in the prologue scenes of Bioshock 2.

Plus the deaths of any of the Big Daddies. Those poor b******* never deserved any of the crap they went through.

Tidus in Final Fantasy X. Yes I know he came back in X-2 but I like to disregard that title. The first time I played X when the team was heading to Zanarkand and learning Tidus wasn't real? It broke my heart. To this day despite the tragic games I have played, X is still the best emotional ending I've ever seen. Never fails to get me in tears.

How is it shocking for Hector to die in an adaptation of the Trojan war?

You never read the Iliad?

I saw the film in my year 9 english class, so no. The fact that Achilies was looking for blood and dishonered his corpse was depressing.

Yup. You get the vibe that Homer liked the Trojans more than the Greeks.

He's the one credited with "creating" The Illiad and The Odyssey.
