I nominate the following:
Most original monster designs? (horror only)
The original Michael Myers mask, nothing is scarier than William Shatner's face.
Also, the Hockey mask for Jason Voorhees, it's now more synonymous with him than the sport itself.
@swordmasterd: that is not original though.
I nominate the original monster, typhon. and lucifer Morningstar of vertigo who is unlike any lucifer ever created.
@longbowhunter: Good, I didn't want to eat dinner anyway.
@longbowhunter: Classic. I approve.
@ostyo: @risingbean: You dudes make me smile!
@longbowhunter: Glad to do so.
Digging on the top of my head...Lair of the White Worm?
Do jogging clothes and a plastic sword count as original? If so I nominate the Chooper from Ray Dennis Steckler's classic, Blood Shack, as most original monster.
@kingofash: Tim Curry is not scary, a little creepy with that perv smile, but not scary. :P
@kingofash: Got a favorite one? I like that God of the lost thing the girl imagines The Girl who loved Tom Gordon.
@yokergeist: OH SNAP!
@baron_von_santa: Which one?

I haven't read that one, but it's partly because I haven't heard anything on the story. Is it any good?
I find it ironic you chose a picture of the remake Freddy.
Some really good choices too...
I also dislike the remake Freddy/A Nightmare On Elm Street. But, the poster, with most of his face covered up by his hat, I can kinda see that it might be just an accident for Racob. He has Cthulhu's photo in the post, so, y'never know.
I'll go with the xenomorphs by Giger.
Any tentacle monster.
How is "any [characteristic] monster" original? Remember, he asked for originality, not scariness.

they are original in the sense that every tentacle monster is different
@deadite: I enjoyed it, and I'm not really much of a King fan. I liked how it was a survival story about a lost little girl trying find her way out of a forest, but sprinkled in aspects of supernatural horror that you're not completely sure is real due to the girl's deteriorating health state as the book goes along.

I don't/have yet to follow a broad range of writers, Stephen King is the only one that I know of that focuses on using earthly element to give lives to his monsters.
Do you read novels in your spare time?
@deadite: I don't like it either but I admit the set up the pic is cool.
Cool. I really like Koontz's writing. But so far the only book I read from him is The Watcher. It's one of the best things I've ever read, and part of the reason why I finally read it is also because I keep hearing good things about the story.

I see.
