I can only hope Charmcaster is being sarcastic. If not, I hope that rock she's hiding under is really comfortable.

That's obviously a hard thing to do. All teenagers care about nowadays is wanna-be punk, wanna-be metal, wanna-be hardcore and crap like that.

That reminds me how glad I am that Guitar Hero/Rock Band threw in some of the old stuff, not just what's popular. I know the kids that play that game have never even heard of half the music on there. Good effort, I'd say.

Actually Metal predates Sabbath, it started back in the 1960's with Iron Butterfly.

Also Blues predated Robert Johnson, he just kicked butt playing it. The first sheet music for the Blues was published when Johnson was only a year old.

But Johnson is incredibly influential on guitarists. Diddley, Hooker, Clapton, Vaughn, all of them.

My list would be:

-Johnson

-Les Paul

-Beatles

-Janis Joplin (changed the female vocal style of rock forever)

-and a personal choice: Peter Gabriel, who broke just about every convention in popular music, and still made it work. Same could be said for David Bowie.

I hope some day Annie Lennox inspires female vocalists to actually sing again instead of whining through their nose that seems so prevalent these days.
