Most Iconic horror movie character
@vaeternus: Because both Freddy and Jason are more iconic than Michael.
@vaeternus: Because both Freddy and Jason are more iconic than Michael.
Not really, Myers is more iconic then both of them. Jason was directly inspired by Michael Myers. Freddy became a joke and Jason just a Myers ripoff in a Hockey mask. There was even old interviews where Jason creators said they were directly inspired by Myers, and he has as many movies as the other two. To me I stop taking Jason seriously once he winded up in space lol.
Zombie's remakes>>>>Jason in space lol
@vaeternus: Myers might have became before Jason or Freddy but he is not more iconic. How many people you see on halloween wearing hockey masks?
@russellmania77: I disagree, Myers I see FAR more costumes daily then Jason.
Halloween is also just as successful if not more and the fans hated Freddy vs. Jason. Myers is just as iconic if not more, even jaime lee admitted this with H20 interviews.
@vaeternus: your right, maybe Jason vs Freddy needed busta rhymes in it doing kun fu to make it better
lol or maybe they should have put Michael and Busta in space, that would be have been so much better :)
@vaeternus: So what if Michael inspired Jason? Jason has the more successful franchise, more facial recognition and is more relevant in today's pop culture. Just because Michael came first, doesn't mean he's better. And you speak as if the Halloween franchise didn't make mistakes. The only good ones were the first two.
@ The Stegman
Halloween is more successful then FT13th overall, once Jason went to space it was over for him and Freddy vs. Jason was a massive disappointment. More like just preferred by today's youth but in terms of which franchise having a bigger impact on horror genre? Halloween easily...The whole Jason 4 or 5 with "his soul possession someone else" was so dumb and made no sense. What is he Chucky now? lol
Hell even the music is more known for Halloween the FT13th.

I never said Halloween franchise was perfect, no franchise is but come on...Jason in space? lol no Halloween is nearly as bad as Jason X...and that's far from true, H1, H2, H4, H5, Curse and H20 were all good. Resurrection and the second Zombie film weren't great, but Halloween remake was better then Jason remake. All the jason remake did was tell the same story literally, while at least with Zombie's remake we saw WHY michael did what he did and emphasized more about his upbringing, why he was so screwed up and made him snap.
I saw I Watch Mojo clip a few days ago that ranked the 10 most iconic movie villains. Hannibal was 3, and was the highest horror character. I'm not big on the horror movie genre in general, even though I've seen all the classics, i'm more of a dramatic movie buff. The only horror movies I really like is The Exorcist, SOTL, and The Shinning. So I wouldn't know much. Now that I think about it though, Dracula is way more iconic.
Lol. You must take drugs
@vaeternus: Yeeeeah, This is gonna go nowhere, you obviously prefer Michael and his films while I think they stopped being good after part 2, so let's agree to disagree.

You mean to tell me, that in Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Meyers, you didnt like Paul Rudd playing the protagonist that drops Michael...with a lead pipe and some anesthesia?!?!?!?!?!?! That was sheer horror brilliance!!!!!!!!!!
**Sarcasm**
@nerdork: It made me laugh for all the wrong reasons. But hey, could be worse, at least Busta Rhymes didn't beat him with kung fu moves and comic relief! :D
This is about the most iconic, not the best.
Sure Dracula is great but not everyone is going to recognize him.
Michael Myers, Jason Vorhees or Freddy Krueger are for more recognizable.
Hell, Freddy even had a couple of rap songs made about him in the '80s.

Oh yeah, LOL, i guess i subconsciously blocked that from my memory...thanks, all kinds of bad thoughts are resurging. Must...watch...The Thing...or...another...good...horror...movie. Brain...collapsing!
Ash and the clown have no business being here with the actual iconic character.
That's subjective. To me, Ash is the most iconic horror movie character. I also know that is an unpopular opinion...but its mine. I've been watching Evil Dead since i was 5 or 6 years old. I saw Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2 before i saw Nightmare on Elm Street or any of the other franchises.

To each his own, with preferences. Obviously both are iconic horror villians though, even leatherface who surprisingly has no votes and Chucky(who's not even listed but should be) at least acknowledged here. But that's fine dude. You prefer Jason more, I prefer Michael.
Did you see the new Thing? Anyone see it? Wasn't bad. Obviously the Busta Rhymes thing was funny and ridiculous, but then so was Jason in space getting "nano upgraded" lol

I agree, while Ash I think should be recognized he's not as big as the other three Myers, Jason and Freddy overall. But the clown totally has no place here. He was a one time story, Chucky is far more worthy then.
@vaeternus: Yeah, i saw it. It did its job, and the gore was rehashed fairly well. My only problem with it, other than the use of CG rather than SE, is they showed the form of the thing too often. Part of the brilliance of John Carpenter's, The Thing (which is actually a continuation of The Thing from Another World '1951'), was the paranoia of not really knowing what it looked like, as you never got a direct cinematic shot. The characters in the film were unable to trust eachother, and it put you right in the middle of not knowing who to root for as the protagonist. Dont get me wrong, the remake was better than most remakes go, and, IMO, was above par. There just wasnt the same suspense and paranoia so prevelent in the earlier films that made them the classics they are today. But. i'd still watch it again. :)

No one disses the nano-upgrades...that was cinematic genius!!!!!!!!! :P
@nerdork: lol yeah I admit the nano upgrate and kung fu busta had to be the best moments in Halloween and Friday The 13th history! lol :P
Oh yeah I feel the same way about the Thing, I did like how they fleshed out more of the story a little more with the dog at the end.
Yeah, that was a nice addition. Brings the story full circle. Still, I would have liked the thing to make it to a major city. that would have been a crazy movie. But, an unnecessary one.

Maybe that can be a future sequel.

It may be a little too Invasion of the Body Snatchers, though. Just the more relentlessly violent version. LOL
