Which band has the better albums, better riffs and lyrics, better solos, and overall which band has the best musicians ?

Metallica use to make great music, but they are a buncha crybabies.

I prefer Slayer the most. At their best they were all great, though.

@superman69: most of the battles there are between characters and superheroes, i thought this would fit in more in the off topic section

Slayer is the better of the 3 bands. .... Metallica cut their hair! and Pantera was a dodgy glam band before they went all masculinity... manly man men

They did bring metal to the masses but I dont consider that a plus.

@skooks: but metallica introduced more people to metal, and a lot of these metal bands out today wouldnt have formed if it wasnt for metallica

haha, yeah. I suppose that did make metal heads angry.

I meant that they were more structured in their music, they were orchestral, which was the first evolution of the genre since it had been created. They are really good songwriters

Metallica>Pantera>Slayer

Metallica has gone down hill quiet a bit but old Metallica was definitely the best.

As long as were talking the "1st four albums" Metallica, then they're at the top of the list. With PanterA 2nd and Slayer 3rd....but that's just me.

Metallica.

Let's see, Master of Puppets is one of the greatest albums of all time, and Fade To Black is the single greatest piece of music in history, so the answer is pretty obvious.

Metallica. Always.
