Police say Brevard man had sex with dog several times
A woman who suspected her roommate of abusing a child was in for a surprise after she set up a surveillance camera to monitor his behavior.
Joshua Lee Werbicki was caught on camera having sex with an adult female German Shepherd named "Angel," according to Palm Bay Police Spokeswoman Yvonne Martinez.
Investigators determined the sex happened about six times over the course of a year.
On Dec. 27, Palm Bay police arrested 22-year-old Werbicki at a Papa John’s restaurant on Minton Road where he worked as a deliveryman, accusing him of repeatedly having sex with the dog, according to police documents.
The dog is described as a “family pet” and police say Werbicki lives at the Palm Bay home where the crime occurred. Police say the sexual acts were recorded by in-home surveillance cameras.
Martinez said woman who lives at the house suspected Werbicki of abusing a child.
“The premise for the camera was because there was some concerns that there was a child living at that address that she suspected was being abused,” Martinez said.
The woman viewed the video and brought it to police.
“Based on that and an interview with the defendant, we were able to charge him with the animal cruelty,” Martinez said. Police are also investigating the woman’s concerns about the child.
Werbicki was arrested and booked on charges of cruelty to animals and sexual acts involving animals. Court records show cruelty to animals is a felony crime, while sex with animals is a misdemeanor.
