Intelligent and people well versed in the Mayan culture and calender have been saying the same thing for a while now.

Oh the world isn't ending. Might as well go kill myself.

#9 Posted by CaptainCockblock (3672 posts) - - Show Bio

No! I was perfectly happy being gullible! I was ready to die next year! Why'd you have to take that from me? Before now, I hadn't met anybody who said that this theory was completely full of crap! I'm shocked, to say the least!

Every credible archaeologist in the world has been telling people for years that 2012 being the end of the world is total BS, but no one ever listens to reasonable qualified people who spent years studying, but some moron pops up on youtube and everyone suddenly comes running. I'm not gonna be polite, if you think 2012 is going to be the end of the world, You are stupid.

And.. y'know, that whole end-of-the-world thing last year, too.

Edit: Oh, hey, 3K posts. Woohoo, I guess.

How shocking, I guess I have no use for the bunker I built what a shame.

Replace the word 'might' with 'will' and we're good.

#21 Posted by minigunman123 (3116 posts) - - Show Bio

The world wasn't going to end even if this youtube didn't appear. If you believe the world is going to end because a bunch of guys who died out centuries ago said so, you fail at life.

According to Mayan calender December 21,2012 was a few months ago. Mayans didn't have leap years.

Why do so many people want the world to end, pessimist!

the christian science monitor huh i figured theyd have something to say. now i cant go outside in my underwear on december 22nd and scream 'im alive!' i feel depressed now :-(

@Nova`Prime`: This.

All the calendar ever indicated was that 2012 was going be the "end of an era," and from the astrological standpoint upon which they based their calendar, this is true. It could very well have absolutely no noticeable effect on this planet.

#31 Posted by sesquipedalophobe (4710 posts) - - Show Bio

The Mayan calendar never took into account leap year.

#32 Edited by Nova`Prime` (4165 posts) - - Show Bio

But also lets not forget, the Mayan calender might be right, just off by a couple of days. I mean the Christian calender ends this year as well. So there is two calenders that end this year, so there has to be some truth in the end of the world.

Or, y'know, they didn't actually foretell anything and just stopped recording their calendars at that specific point. There's that, too.

#34 Posted by joshmightbe (24884 posts) - - Show Bio

@Nova`Prime`: Well according to the book that the entire Christian faith is built upon states very clearly that God is the only one who knows when the world will end. So any Christian who claims they know when it will end either believes they are God or they're calling God a liar. Either way I wouldn't stand too close to them in a thunder storm

#35 Posted by blackadamFTW (7867 posts) - - Show Bio

Umm, science has been telling us that for years now.

I'll do what I always do December 21. Hate my self, drink coffee, love myself, and repeat.

#36 Posted by Nova`Prime` (4165 posts) - - Show Bio

@ZombieBigfoot: I always hate saying this, but I was being sarcastic, couldn't tell if you could tell or not.

Exactly, but there are also plenty of "Christians" who believe differently. Like when hacks like Jerry Falwell says stuff about bringing on the Rapture. Its like and who are you to tell God when the second coming should be?

I could tell. And so was I. Felt like replying to sarcasm with sarcasm, at the time.
