must admit I was not overly aware of Golovkin, Very Impressive.
Though I would still have to go with Hagler, (He was just a Beast) and a very skillful beast at that.
Plus, I dont like the fact that Golovkin KO Jason Statham (2.05)
GGG is the only Middleweight champ with a higher KO percentage than Hagler.
Fair enough, But Hagler made his name fighting some of the best pound for pound fighters of all time.
Again I admit I do not know Golovkin all that well so I do not know if his top opponents match up?. .

His competition doesn't have a patch of Marvin's, but he's on a 20 fight KO streak against solid fighters like David Lemiex, Willie Monroe Jr and Daniel Geale. He's undefeated as a pro (his amateur record was 345-5) and has never even been knocked down or stopped as an amateur or a pro.
GGG fan now, eh? Haha
The answer is Marvin Hagler. If Tommy Hearns couldn't KO Marvin Hagler, GGG doesn't have a chance in hell. Also GGG's comp has only ever been B- fighters. Lemieux, the best fighter on his record, is just a poor man's post-Kevin Rooney Tyson, e.g. Just comes forward and throws bombs. He got stopped by a guy GGG KO'd in 2 rounds. Geale and Monroe Jr. are jokes.
Not that I think anyone from 154 to 160 has much of a chance against him, he's just in a weak division, which Hagler wasn't.
Andre Ward spanks him if that fight ever happens.
@relloman: GGG's awesome. Marvin's probably my favourite boxer ever besides maybe Duran.
Was Hagler ever knocked down?
@comicstooge: I believe he was knocked down 1 time his whole career. I don't remember the guy's name

I looked it up. Juan Roldan technically got a KD but it was actually just the result of a missed hook that caused Roldan's arm to wrap around Hagler's neck, pulling Marvin forward and causing him to fall over.
Hagler has probably the best chin in boxing, IMO, sans maybe James Toney who's almost a vegetable nowadays.
"Was Hagler ever knocked down?".
Officially yes.
Juan Roldan knocked him down though it was a controversial knock down, Half punch (on the chin) half pull (around the back of Haglers head / neck).
(added)
Never mind, I see you already know.
It's up there. Guys like Jake Lamotta, who's chin is so good he fought Sugar Ray Robinson 6 times, and still doesn't have brain damage in his 90's (yes, still alive).
Geogre Chuvalo is another guy, who's probably the only guy to get stopped by George Foreman without touching the canvas.
But, yes, Hagler is up there. Top 5, no doubt.

Lamotta's still alive? Jesus.

He doesn't exactly look good for his age, but the fact he can move at all is impressive

If he was a real man he'd fight Mayweather tbh.
