Man of Steel

In the films trailers and images so far we've seen Henry Cavil as Superman, Greatest catch Clark with macho beard. But I'm wondering how he'll portray glasses, bad posture Clark.

Yeah, I've been wondering that, too. I hope that they decide to do it at all. I mean, heck, only Morrison's run has established the full force of Supes' disguise in the New 52. All of the other creative teams have only used the glasses and made Clark Kent a tall strapping young man from the Midwest.

I'm also annoyed about the fact some people are angry over having Laurence Fishburne portray Perry White because of his Race. I think he's a good actor for the role, change it up a little.

I hope Man of Steel is good. After Returns, I am wary.

Even though the first trailer stole the music for TLOTR when Gandalf plunges to his death, I've been optimistic and hooked ever since said trailer was released. Both versions.

I hear its coming out this year. Dont know when though.

It'll be better than the art house piece that was Superman Returns. I only hope after this one they decide to go the weird route with villians, i.e. Braniac, Anti-Superman Army, or dare I say they try and do Mxy?

I honestly don't understand what was wrong with Superman Returns. I'm syked up for this one though.

My main problems with it from my view:

1. Just a rehatch of the first Superman movie plot... complete with a real-estate-obsessed Lex Luthor... yawn!

2. Again... more Luthor. Seriously, tired of Luthor. How about some good super villains?

3. Superman has an illegitimate kid? Lois Lane is now with some other dude? WTF?

4. Superman gets stabbed with a Kryptonite knife, AND lifts a Kryptonite island into space, and doesnt die. WTF x 2?

5. Who wants to see a sequel that would either, 1) mostly deals with Superman's kid, or 2) mostly ignores Superman's kid. Either way it'll be lame. Also, the dude Lois is with now is a nice guy. So what now, she dumps him cause Superman is back? So she either stays with the guy (huh?) or she dumps him for Superman, in which case she's a bitch.

6. Why is Superman stalking Lois Lane?

I agree with Lex Luthor. I wish they brought in some serious guns like Darkseid.

With 4, IIRC Superman sun amped before dragging that continent into outer space, even still he nearlly died. And because he's Superman.

The next Superman movie will most likely be a reboot and not a direct sequel.

And IDK what Superman was doing.

Right, what I meant was if they'd continued with that story and version of the Superman universe. From a story-telling point of view it was a horrible decision. Superman is a classic character with more than 70 years of history. Introducing a kid significantly changes that, and now would have also significantly changed the focus of any subsequent stories. Any new stories would have to include the kid, which takes focus away from Superman. No one wants to see a Superman movie about Superman's kid. And if the new stories ignored the kid, then that also would make no sense.

So what Superman Returns gave us was just a retelling of Superman I, but now Superman has a kid. Fail... on both counts.

I have hopes for this new movie. Some people like to hate on Snyder for his style-over-substance, but Watchmen was pretty good. I think with a good script Snyder can make a really good Superman movie. Also, coming after Superman Returns, IMO it's almost a certitude to be better.

I dont know how well Cavill will pull off the role, but he looks good so far. It will be hard to match Reeve. I'm not sure anyone can ever really match him, but he can certainly establish a new different version all his own.

There were plot holes in the story but it wasn't a complete failure IMO.
