This Is a New Thing I Decided To Do. It's Called "Lightning's Random Questions". These questions will be labeled according to what number they are. This is question #1. Here's how it goes: I ask a question, and you, the viners, discuss your opinions on it. These questions range from things like political, relationship, racism in society, and religion. These questions will be random. So you never know how often they will come. Anyhow, the question is: If a stripper falls off the pole, and hurts herself, say... Snap her bones in her fingers, is she entitled to workers compensation? Or, due to being a stripper, should the insurance company make the club pay her medical bills?

Why or why not should she be paid?

I would say no. The club should pay her bills. Unless she has health insurance.

If they are considered contract labor then no , also in many clubs in my area the stripper pays a fee to the club to like rent or lease the position meaning they do not work for the company so there is no workers comp requirements by law.

Well... considering that stripping is... y'know... a JOB... and they WORK... they should get WORKman's comp, yes.

I know male dancers work for agencies and gets benefits so the same might apply to female dancers if they work for agencies (though some handle everything themselves so they don't get benefits)

No, she fell because she chose to do a spin. The Strip Club does not require their dancers to do any specific dancing, so if they chose to spin like that, then it's their fault.

If a fight broke out in the strip club, and a Stripper was somehow hurt in the result of it, then they should be compensated. That is the business's responsibility to provide a safe work environment, and the Stripper should not be held accountable for something of that nature.

Yeah, like if the pole isn't properly placed or well kept and she gets hurt or if a customer gets touchy and shenanigans ensue than yeah...club should pay that sh*t. She's gotta pay bills and they wont get payed if she's in a hospital laying on her ass, she's gotta shake it and if she can't then someone else has to pay.

Agreed.

Of course they're entitled to it, just because it's not working in an office or out digging a ditch doesn't mean that it's any less a form of employment.

Think it should be based on how much money the club gets from her/him. If they are considered valuable to the club then she/he should be taken care for.

So using this logic the janitor at the accountant's firm doesn't get any compo because he doesn't contribute as much to the profit statement as the book-keeper does?

Not sure what workers compensation means exactly, not being american and all.. But stripping in a club is as much a job as any other and should have equal rights.

We have Off Topic because people get tired of talking about comics on a comic site. Its also the place where the trolls spawn.

I'd be surprised if there wasn't a contract signed prior to employment negating liability on behalf of the strip clubs' owners. If not, the dancer can sue but I don't think the profession is very forgiving in the way of employment elsewhere. They'd be shunned at best, and targeted at worst. Unfortunately, it's one of the least protected careers in terms of regulation and accountability.

Whatever laws apply to worker safety and compensation wherever she works/lives should apply to her as well.

Well, why would her line of work be any less credible? She is still being employed by a business so yeah, they should be entitled.
