Kishimoto vs Oda vs Kubo

ROUND 1: Kishi draws One Piece, Oda draws Bleach, and Kubo draws Naruto. They get 2 years of prep with the entire script of the manga they will be drawing. Whose manga will turn out the best?

ROUND 2: Kishi writes a One Piece movie, Oda writes a Bleach movie, and Kubo writes a Naruto movie. These are animated and all of them get a year of prep. Whose movie will turn out the best?

ROUND 3: The three of them each draw DBZ. They get 3 years of prep and are allowed to consult Akira. Whose DBZ will turn out the best?

Kishi wins. All of Oda's drawings would look horrible, and Kubo will trololo us for the entire time.

Not to mention all three of these authors (Kubo, Kishimoto, Oda) have admitted throughout their careers that the work of Akira Toriyama heavily influenced them and the anime/manga that they produce, Dragon Ball was an inspiration.

@the_stegman: To a certain extent, they are. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying they're all plagiarized characters and manga but the "never give up" and "keep pushing no matter what" spirit which was first established in Goku are also found in Naruto, Ichigo, and Luffy. All four are good characters though.

My money is on Oda. His storylines are better.

Round 1: Kishimoto clean sweep. Oda's art is childish/weird at best, and kubo zaps from superb to backgroundless-ink spills.

Round 2: ...I can't decide. While kubo is a master of random twists, the other two seem better writers than he is. Oda may pull off a win here, because he is extremely creative with interesting back stories for characters, and a lot of them relate closely to real world situations. Kishimoto is mainly focused in the horrors of shinobi world, I'm not sure how well he can handle other worlds.

Round 3: Hm. Kubo's dbz will be the most stylish, kishimoto outclasses the other two in battles / fight sequences, while oda's will have the most intricate plot, and the action may be the closest to regular dbz, since he uses h2h a lot more than the other two.

goku can be pretty serious in fights.

Goku is however not stupid like Luffy or Naruto. Goku is mostly joking around, while Luffy and Naruto are genuinely dense

I doubt it. Story wise all 3 of them wreck him(Bleach before the defeat of Aizen and Nauto before shippuden), Plot wise Oda wrecks him and Kishi does too before Shippuden. Character development wise Oda wrecks him again, all that Toriyama really has going for him is the fight scenes and character designs. and also Bleach is more like Yu Yu than dbz

I`m pretty neutral, I like all of them equally and I think their all best at what they know best but here is my two cents.

R1: Kishi wins this one. I think I like his style of artwork more, there is more definitive values and artistic elements also the art stands out more, universally a lot of people around the world in different places who are a fan of Naruto are really drawn to the artwork even if they are not the biggest fans and do not follow the manga all the time, they at-least appreciate the artwork which transpires into the nicely done animations.

R2: This would be super-uber interesting! Just to see a change of perspective with just a simple switch. I think when it comes to writing and storyboarding that Oda is the most useful with his time, he takes his time and he`s more heavily involved in the scripting process. One Piece has always had the more consistent yet slowest storyline than the other two in the Big 3. I think if he were to get his hands on Bleach, he could actually make it better even though its not his characters or universe, he may miss some of Kubo`s spark but I think by heart and wisdom that what he applied with One Piece can be applied to Bleach, he could add more mythology and background to it although Kubo is starting to up the ante with those aspects in the current Bleach manga. The movie concept would be out of this world as Oda is the best with World Building and its concepts, I think he could add more dimensions to Soul Society, Hueco Mundo and the Underworld within Bleach.

R3: Now this is more of a tricky one. I think generally Kishi would have the distinct advantage when it just comes to art and design or craftsmanship but Oda may win this one due to One Piece`s connections to DBZ and the level of inspiration involved, I think he would be the most inspired individual within the room and he might change direction also One Piece art and vision is more like DBZ than either Bleach or Naruto although Naruto draws from DB and is heavily inspired by it while Bleach is inspired by Saint Seiya and Yu Yu Hakusho with some Dragon Ball undertones.

Round 1 is a toss up and really depends completely on reader's preference.

Roiund 2 Oda wins since he is the only one whose story doesn't make things up as it goes along and leave loose ends. Also One Piece movies are far better than the other 2.

The DBZ round also goes to Oda since he already worked on DBZ and is the best story teller of this group.

@redbird3rdboywonder: Completely agree, the issue with Shippuden is that Kishi didn't plan it well if at all, but honestly my biggest issue was the pairings in each, but Narutos were the worst (not where the ended up neccessarily but what each of the popular ship's would have me as by to each character)

Round 1:Kubo as long as he finish in the pain arc.

Round 2:Oda

Round 3: One Piece is almost DBZ already so Oda.

It wouldn't matter, they all suck anyways.

If I had to pick, Kishi wins.

3. Oda because of all the similarities one piece shares with DBZ it would be natural for him but his art would be the only bad part.

1)

-Kishimoto would actually have a beginning, middle, and end. He'd probably make one of the best shonen tbh.

-Oda would make Bleach worse and better at the same time. If Bleach still has 74 Volumes, then it would be like, the best series ever. But I totally see him repeating what Kubo did and make Ichigo have powers from every kind of race, and stretch the series out by so much longer.

-Kubo would just make Sakura get rescued, then Hinata gets rescued, then the actual Sasuke retrieval with the cool ass battles between Akatsuki/Espada and Naruto. But overall the story will still go stale and it'll still drop off the sales.

Winner:Oda via sales, Kishimoto via quality.

-Kishimoto's movie would just be a regular shonen movie.

-Oda's movie would probably suck

-Kubo's movie would all be about beautiful animation and fights but still being a regular movie

Winner:None really, but Kubo's would be remembered the most.

3) Assuming that DBZ still has 42 Volumes

-Kishimoto would draw an excellent story and great characters. His fights would probably be better than Akira's actually

-Oda wouldn't be too great here, he's more likely to be the one to drop off sales, not to mention DBZ probably would be more boring.

-Kubo is like Akira's son lol. I still see him with a rushed ending, although his fights would be the best out of the three. I see a story with highs and lows but still worth a read.

Winner:Kubo via sales and legacy, Kishimoto via quality.

Kubo has the best art, though Kishimoto is the most durable.

Kubo has the best fights for down and grittiness, while Kishimoto has the best fights for strategy.
