@the_soverighn: I'm definitely gonna go for the home team and that's Kendrick Lamar another excellent product out of Chicago, to join the ranks of Lupe , Kanye, Common, Twista and others. Plus Kendrick has hooked up Dre, that's a win win situation. Kendrick has plenty to talk about hailing out of Chicago, and anybody who has lived in the Chi knows about the hood and the stories that reside there. nothing against Logic, but he sounds very nasal, like Drake that irritates me, but I'd listen to him he's decent. The biggest problem for logic is that he 's not Kendrick Lamar!
I can't say for certain since I haven't heard enough from Logic. Based on those songs alone, he really reminds me of J. Cole in the first two...and a lot like Kendrick in the last. I like the flow, but I don't feel like he's lyrically anything different. Given time, my opinion might change though.

My man.... he might be from the Chi, but he reps CALI !!!!

He reps the Chi and and even speaks of some of the gangs there, but you wouldn't know unless you were from there. He may speak highly of Cali, but at the end of the day he's a product of the Windy city, ain't no touchin dat! Furthermore he has that Chi Town flow, nobody born on the west coast uses that midwest style. Twista created that, Bone tweaked that, Lupe did that, now Kendrick is on that.
type "where is kendrick lamar from" into Google, fam.
ComptonKendrick Lamar, Place of birth
Welcome to the Kendrick Lamar Biography. Kendrick Lamar is an up and coming rap artist from Compton
Kendrick Lamar Duckworth (born June 17, 1987), simply known as Kendrick Lamar, is an American hip hop recording artist from Compton, California
Compton, California's Kendrick Lamar initially rapped as K. Dot
All due respect to the Chi, but it ain't where you from it's where you at .... and either way the answer for both for Kendrick is the same .... CALI!
Dig you got me on that,I stand corrected, the mans parents are from the Chi, they moved out to Cali and Kendrick was born. his uncles from the Chi were relocated to Caliu as well and they sold dope out of a building there. Kendrick got Chiu- town in his veins no matter how you look at it. Especially watching his uncles do their thang, and the stories I'm sure they told him as a child. Repect to Cali, haven't been to Oakland since 2006 but , I'm coming back

It's all good fam. Come on out here for those 3W's (women, *eed n weather). I come out to the O often, especially first Friday every month (Art Murmur).
Logic all the way.
I don't even really like rap music and I can listen to Logic all day.
No disrespect to either of these artists, I'm sure they are good in some respects. I've only been exposed to one song from Lamar and from that alone, I'm not exactly tempted to listen to anything else. Think it was called Backseat Freestyle.
Kendrick isn't a product of the Chi. He was born in Chicago but spent most of his life in Compton. His rapping and production style has LA influences and he's dedicated way more of his subject matter to Compton. Guy moved out of Chicago when he was a kid, he probably doesn't even remember his experiences there.
Nor does him using a chopper flow make him a midwest rapper. Not only is it only one of his many flows but Busta is from NY and uses it.
Saying he's a Chi rapper is like saying Ye is an ATL rapper.
both are great artist. both i say are extremely talented. i think it is completely subjective who is "better." however, i think kay dza will win. he is more popular and the current king of hip hop.

In terms of modern mainstream rappers. Joey Bad$$ is out of his league

I'd like to see K.Dot vs Joey but I think JB needs to get a little more work under his belt.
As for this battle I'll take K.Dot. Logic is okay but he sounds like a young J.Cole mixed with a pop punk band vocalist.

Sounds like yes. Most of his songs are disposable. But Logic has more potential than most top tier rappers did when they started their careers. Young Sinatra 1-3 are better than anything that I've personally heard from Kendrick Lamar. Okay is a huge understatement. He's a legitimate prodigy of rap.Though if I had to make a criticism of him most of his songs usually just sound like he's trying to sound like someone else.
Not to Insult Kendrick. He's great, but like many rappers before him he is highly overrated. People seem to put him on such a high pedestal because of the condition that the modern mainstream rap industry is in, Most MCs are carbine copies of wack rappers ( and that goes for any period/era of rap).I understand why people call him unique but people address him like he just got done making the modern equaivillant to Illmatic.
Never listened to much of either, but Logic just appeared in my crosshairs. Dude has mad skill. He and Yelawolf should get together for a collaboration.
@monsterstomp: You should check out Logic's debut album Under Pressure which dropped this October (It's completely on YouTube in its entirety just to name one place) Probably my favorite rap album of 2014.
@wolverine08: I was just listening to some of it. Pretty dope!
Kendrick is pretty dope lyrically, with his "metaphors and wordplay". I just can't get into him. I dislike his vocals, and yes, I actually listen to their vocals. I just can't feel fire from Kendrick.
After hearing both rappers constantly I have to say Kendrick Lamar sweeps nicely. Sing About Me & Sherane is story telling at is finest. Also Nosetalgia (the song is spelt that way).
In terms of flow Logic can't really change his so it gets old fast, he even tries to rap like kendrick sometimes. Just listen to see no evil, blessed & cartoon and cereal
Lyrics: Kendrick stomps "If I'm not the hottest then hell must of froze over"
"9 times outta 10, ni**as don't pay atTENtion and when there's TENsion in the air nines come with exTENsion"
