Oh yeah, I remember now. I just forgot her name. We have her wedding taped on our TV rofl.

Happy for her pregnancy, hope she enjoys having children.

Meanwhile women are being raped, children are missing, wars are being waged, and people are dying of hunger.

honestly, I don't really care that much about the story...
 the only part of the wedding that was amusing was when those European Men was walking into the Cathedral in their Captain Crunch Military Uniforms.

Well, it's more of a morale thing for the country methinks; they really respect their royalty like most Americans do with celebrities or, perhaps more accurately, the founding fathers. There are always bad things happening, it's terrible, and people try to do what they can, but we all know about the bad stuff happening. Nothing new is under the sun, except for events that we couldn't have known in advance such as a pregnancy. Maybe she wouldn't have been able to have kids, for example, and this is like "yay our royalty won't die out, long live the queen".

What I'm getting at is, yeah, awful things happen, but they always happen and there's always a time to mourn. It's not really fair to rain on someone's parade if you don't even have a real reason for doing so.

For example, on Christmas Day, I could go shout out "HOW CAN I CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS WHEN KIDS ARE STARVING IN AFRICA", but it wouldn't make sense unless I was actually going to do something about it rather than complain.

@minigunman123: Why not? There is a Christmas carol about it.

Ignoring the wrong in the world doesn't make it go away.

I'm not suggesting that we ignore it, but I'm suggesting we don't ignore the good just because there's bad. Child birth is a wonderful thing if you look at the grand scheme of things. New human life. A baby that, hopefully, will grow up to be a productive member of society. It's pretty cool.

The reason we don't hear about it more often is because it happens so often, we only hear about famous people giving birth or getting pregnant. The same reasoning I tried to use in my earlier post, for why all the woes of the world shouldn't get published over and over; there's too many, too much, and we already know about it. Publish some stuff about it, and then move on, and let people who feel the need to help, help.

That's just what I think about it anyway.

@minigunman123: I understand your argument completely, but this child will most likely just be a privileged snot, who is rich without having to work for anything. So I don't see this as miraculous or a beautiful life. I woman giving birth when she was told she could never have a child is a beautiful child that gives people hope. A figure head having a baby is just another window to fame like celebrity babies.

I feel it's important to point out that the royalty of England does plenty of things to help their country, they're not privileged snots, and they all enroll in the military. Even so, you can't make any kind of assumption about the kind of person the child will be, because it's not even born yet. That's just misdirected anger.

@minigunman123: I pay my taxes where is my interview? The last thing I heard about the royal family was Kate Middleton has nags, yes that headlined the news, before that was Prince Harry caught drunk and nude in public. I'm sure they aid their country, but they could do alot more with their wealth and position. I am not angry about anything. Irritated yes, but not angry, and your right this kid could go a peace keeping missions, or help build schools in poor countries, but most likely they will simply be a figure head that does just enough to not be thrown away.

1. What?

2. They're normal people. You can't expect them to be special just because they have special resources.

3. Everyone could do a lot more with anything they have. I'm sure neither you nor I are doing all we could. Yet, you see pop culture making excuses like "it's the previous generations' fault" or something.

4. He doesn't even have to do that much. It's the same exact thing as Bill Gates' kids; they don't have to do anything more than what their family is concerned with, it's their choice what to do with their life, but that doesn't mean that if Bill Gates gives them most of his money in his will, they don't deserve it. He's the guy giving them the money. He's their kids. I'm sure that anyone short of evil or twisted people, would keep their kids in their will, and give them at least some significant portion of their possessions when they die, the only difference here is that the royalty don't get a choice; whatever they have is handed down to their children whether they like it or not. They have even more responsibility as well, and have to put up with it better than you or I do, lest they be spoken of like you're speaking of them now. I personally think that royalty is obsolete, but the people that are born into it nowadays usually don't have a say in the matter, and they often try to do the best they can, even though they do some stupid stuff or make mistakes just like everyone else. I think you're judging them too harshly just because they're fortunate enough to be born with certain status, even though that comes with huge responsibility, more than most people imagine. It's not their fault if the media's retarded about it.

However even though the media is ridiculous about pop icons, politicians and royal figures, it's still impossible to give every single incident in the world, no matter how awful it is to the people involved, face time on the largest papers in the world. There's simply not enough room or people to write the stuff up. They keep it confined to what the average person will want to know about.

So really, all of this boils down to being the fault of the reader, in a way...

1. I meant bangs sorry

2. Normal people aren't prince's nor get put on TV for drunk nakedness "unless it is incredibly funny or violent . Then again normal is an illusion to create social norms. Regardless someone with political and world influence should behave better. He may not have asked to be a Prince, but he has a responsibility to his nation to carry himself with respect.

3. They don't have to do all they could, but I feel that being royalty in a nation requires you do more far more for your nation then the average person.

4. That is true, he will never have to earn the right to wear a crown or be a prince he just is. I don't think that should be celebrated. I understand the media is crazy over famous people, I am not, and I feel we should cover as much as possible that is relevant and I don't find this relevant.

@Pwok21: So all they are is a tourist attraction. Big whoop. They're still not important. In fact they've been reduced to a stop on a holiday rather than being rulers of Britain and most of the world in the past. Excuse me for not sharing your patriotism :P

#39 Posted by Pwok21 (1894 posts) - 5 months, 11 days ago - Show Bio

@Lvenger:

Technically the Queen still holds the power to revoke Parliament as there are still plenty of loopholes within the laws established to remove their powerbase.

#40 Posted by Lvenger (8228 posts) - 5 months, 11 days ago - Show Bio

@Pwok21: Yeah but if she used those powers, everyone would be up in arms about it. Besides attitudes have changed both public and royally. The Royal Family might bring in some money but that's all they're useful for. Even the politicians that I don't like either are at least involved in running the country. You British as well btw?

#41 Posted by Pwok21 (1894 posts) - 5 months, 11 days ago - Show Bio

@Lvenger:

Yes, I am British.

I know that it wouldn't really work out, I was just stating how the power runs, and theoretically how they are more powerful than people give them credit for.

To get the information about Kate being pregnant. Mel Greig and Michael Christian did a prank to get information regarded her condition. From then on the woman who gave the information was hounded by newspapers for giving this information up.

This morning she was found dead. She committed suicide.
