Jurassic Park to be re-released in 3D.

I heard this morning that Jurassic Park is going to be re-released in 3D. Jurassic Park is one of my favorite films of all time, so I'm so going to be first in line to see it when it comes out in April 2013.

If only we had dinosaurs in my time during the Revolutionary War. We would've wiped the floor with those redcoats. We did wipe the floor with them, but still.

I saw this a couple of days ago. Worst news I've heard all week, obvious money grab.

What's not being re-released as 3-D nowadays?

Don't want to give into such an obvious money grab...
... but do want to relive movie I loved as a kid.

CONFLICT.

Isn't it already re-released in Blu-Ray? Close enough if you ask me.

@YourNeighborhoodComicGeek: Of course, it has been out on blu-ray for awhile now.  But nostaliga is a powerful force.  I remember seeing it in the theaters 3 times as a youngling and absolutely loving it.  Blu-ray is lovely and all, but some things are worth the theatrical experience.

@k4tzm4n:

I understand. Jurassic Park seems understandable, but movies like Avatar and Monsters Inc. don't need to be re-released yet. I mean, they're not even a decade old.

@YourNeighborhoodComicGeek: Yeah, Monsters Inc is clearly just to renew interest in the franchise before the sequel comes out.

@k4tzm4n: True, but that's what advertisements are for. Or, they could have done a mini-series or something like Halo 4 did.

I've always wanted to see that movie in theaters.

Money grab or not, I'm down.

Yeah, why is everyone b!tching? You get to see Jurassic Park again in theaters. That is freakin' awesome.

I thought they're making a sequel.

They have my money. Jurassic Park was my favourite film as a child and I can't even count the amount of times I've seen it.

Its better re-release a movie than just remaking it.

Love that movie and and would love to watch it at the cinema since I never got to do that back then but the whole money grab thing puts me off.

Way too soon for that anyway. The movies was released in the 90s, not the 70s or the 80s. But still yeah, I agree with you.

Well Titanic was made way sooner than Jurassic Park and got it's 3D release just this year. Also, welcome back, man :)

Re-making Jurassic Park would be the worst idea possible. Most remakes don't turn out that well regardless, hence why they remain avoided.

Exactly. Also from a financial standpoint, you spent less money in re-releasing a movie in 3D than just remaking the whole thing that is probably never going to live up to the original anyway.

Indeed and on top of that, most fans end up detesting the entire idea of a re-make and it doesn't help if your most dedicated cliental refuse to support the project.

I'm not sure if this is the worst news all week for me, but it is a clear money grab. Just like Phantom Menace was. Namely why my incentive to watch it as of now is zero, as the normal non 3D iteration of the film was good enough to watch, 3D adds nothing to the experience.

It's my favorite movie of all time, but yeah I was being fatuous. Still, JP holds up amazingly well in my eyes so there's no need to attempt to improve up it. The only positive I can garner form this is it might increase the likelihood of another JP movie, after the rumors have swirled long enough.
