Following the example of Mohammad, ISIS is destroying Assyrian artifacts and priceless art that's thousands of years old and can never be replaced. These artifacts are some of the earliest pieces of human culture, and their destruction is a loss to the entire world.
ISIS destroys 3,000 year-old artifacts in the name of Islam
So...
... Why haven't we shut these mother****ers down yet?
Because our best chance to do just that has long passed and now they are too big to be squashed without a monumental effort and commitment. They have people and influence in key parts of the Middle East and are influencing copycats all over the world to act out terror demonstrations. Not to mention no one wants to get involved in fighting them, and ISIS as an army is waaaaay too powerful for the native forces and the Turks are the only things managing to hold them off, but they can't do it forever. To simplify we should have stomped them while they were a small cell group they caught most of the world off guard with their swift advance/power grab and this is the result.
On the subject of the video my mother is an art teacher and she almost cried.
@micah: k den :(

It's not all doom and gloom my friend. Then can be and will be stopped, all we need is for the government to do it's job and get a plan on how they need to handle this situation with any other nation that will support the U.S (since we are the ones who need to make the first move it seems), because Air Strikes can only get you so far.
I had a hard time watching it. So many beautiful pieces of art, and absolutely priceless and irreplaceable.
We already know these people are human cockroaches, but they just keep finding new ways to prove it. Actually... I shouldnt insult cockroaches like that.

I did cry...
Those Assyrian Statues (the large winged ones) were on my bucket list to go see.
I can't now.
It was a rather disappointed and disturbing experience to watch the statue be pushed, as if it were nothing, and even more so when it made contact with the ground.
We cannot go back in time and experience what has already transpired; every passing moment is one we can never regain. Having mementos from the past, such as a work of art that represents a different time, culture, and people gives us a unique understanding–a glimpse perhaps–of who we were as a people back then, how life was like, what we believed in, how we are different and/or similar now, and how far we’ve come overall. These relics are perhaps the closest links we have to the past.
In this case, these priceless Assyrian sculptures, have been destroyed in acts of absolute stupidity and savagery. Admired and cherished, each work is masterfully crafted, painstakingly built, and distinctly beautiful, yet they are gone … just like that. Yes, their destruction is indeed a loss for the entire world. These people are the bane of mankind, a scourge of utter idiocy and lunacy that holds the rest of the world back. I cannot fathom what possessed them to perform this, an act against humanity.
@monsterstomp: Because they won't send me or my boys back.
These people need to be ended. Period.

@monsterstomp: Seriously these maggots should have been dealt with a long time ago, they need to answer for the good and decent people over there and all over the world they've hurt and murdered.
The world needs to show radicals of any type that this sh*t is unacceptable and there are consequences. They want the fear of god? Let's give it to them.
It's funny how I can go on Comic Vine and see a tragedy like this, then the thread right underneath is "Your Favorite Juice".

Lmao.
@granitesoldier: I agree. And it may seem selfish of me to say "send in the soldiers" since I'm just a petty civilian, but give me the required training and I'd jump right in there. This sort of thing disgusts me, and its only going to get worse. I'm so fired up right now!
@monsterstomp: It ain't selfish. It's what we volunteered for.

The fear of God comes by way the prophet of 5.56 as far as I'm concerned.
@risingbean: And he speaks a universal language.
Hooyah.

ISIS are horrible but I'm wary of an invasion TBH.
These a-holes give Islam a bad name. The point of destroying the statues was cleansing the House of Allah from blasphemy. Not just for the heck of it.
The only artefact they should destroy is every copy of Justin Bieber's songs.
That'll do my great grandchildren and the rest of mankind great service.
It's stuff like this that really makes you wonder if GOD is Evil after all... I mean we have the Almighty who is basically sitting back and watching these idiots destroy priceless artwork of thousands of years old... and on top of that the Almighty is giving them the power and strength to do these horrible things. Even if we eventually kill ISIS... I am starting to wonder why it is that GOD gives these evil men power to do horrible things so often in time.
If it's end like i suppose it will... Will be worse than this.

Islamic State controls large parts of Iraq and Syria. Yemen has also been overthrown by radical Islamacists recently though I don't recall if they are formally allied with the Islamic State. Other Middle Eastern nations are also being attacked by them. It's essentially IS's goal to reclaim the Ottoman Empire.
@king_saturn: My opinion is God made the clock, put it on his wall and lets it work as it will.
People have free will. God's not going to take that away. We need to solve things.
Yeah, that's more or less my view as well. I think God can and does intervene in the working of the universe, but I think it is the rare exception not the rule.
The universe has rules. Water will wet us. Fire will burn.
@batwatch: Yeah. I read your posts in real life topics and realize you say exactly what I was thinking most of the time.
I'm with you on the rules. Why make gravity if God is going to protect every dumb kid who jumps off the roof of the garage? Broken bones make for great real world lessons. Hopefully it's a leg and not a skull. The key to success is realizing there are rules and then respecting them.
@willpayton: @bierschneeman: If that's true than thank god some survived. It truly is evil that people could act like this and worst of all take pride in doing all of it. Simply disgusting.....
This was sad. This is not the first time people in those country's have done something like this and it needs to be the last. Why can not we get the government to stop them.
How did they even get in there without anyone noticing?
we noticed... last summer they took conquered and occupied Mosul (the city the museum is in) and have been there ever since.. it was only a matter of time until they did something like this.

I truly wonder what is wrong with people
