Is There Anything Worse Than Mass Murder?

Rape is bad and can be traumatizing, but humans are survivors. We've evolved and survived for millions of years because we are so good at adapting. Some people are better at adapting than others, that is true. And it definitely depends on the details of what happened. But, as a general rule, dying is worse than almost anything, because that's the one thing nobody can go on through. I guess if there is an afterlife, dying suddenly doesn't become as bad. But, yeah, I still say murder is the worst crime one can commit, simply because of how it effects society, the person, and the people around them.

I think the whole rape vs. murder debate is really a subjective and circumstantial matter. It's subjective since some people would prefer one over the other to happen to them, and circumstantial since some people might be able to recover differently afterwards and there are things that might make one of them worse, e.g being raped by a family member would usually be worse than a stranger.

If I had to choose for a stranger I'd pick the rape just because they have a chance of recovery and I'd say most people would rather be raped.

I consider attacking the psyche worse in general than physical violence, although there are different degrees of both. One of the worst things I can think of is taking away a person's inner freedom.

just read some horrible stories about torture victims. someone even had her eyes gouged out of their sockets while she was still alive and keep in mind before the gauging out of her eyes she suffered a weeks worth of stabbing, crushing of arms and legs, getting beat up, making her eat her own s**t etc.

@snes9x: What are you on about? Murder does not always involve torture, more commonly it's over very quickly. Rape is torture that stays with a person the rest of their life, and there are incidents of similar torture on rape victims.
