Good luck answering that one. I hope I don't get banned, I can't find the rules ANYWHERE on the site, and I'm new.
Is Religion the Cause of War?
Depends on the war.
Sometimes
Some wars.
The cause of all War? absurd
As an excuse, yes.
Human nature is the cause for war. We're violent. Religion is just used as an excuse to give into those violent tendencies.
@pikachumonster: No idea, but good point...lol. This question seems pretty rhetorical. Its silly to even question the idea of one source being the cause of all war. But, hey...whatevs
No, just a justification used, usually after it started.
Wars start because 'the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence'. Also, people want your stuff, and 'over your dead body' is an acceptable means to get it. Or in the case of Alexander the 'Great', he started wars just because he knew he could win.
Wars aren't about religion, they're about taxes and property. Sometimes about glory, but usually the leaders that start them just want a new wing on their summer palace.
It's a cover, not the reason.
Yup
It's human stupidity. Religion is but a tool stupidity uses.
I gotta say I was expecting much worse comments, but I know if I say "Good job CV" people will quote me and then bash religion and wars so I'll just say.... Disappointing.
What a stupid thread...
Human are idiotic by nature. Where I'm from a n!gga would kill you simply because you looked at them the "wrong" way. Religion doesn't cause wars, humans do--religion is only the excuse.
@dccomicsrule2011: Blood for the Blood God!!

Get out of here you Bible thumper!!
@dccomicsrule2011: Blood for the Blood God!!
The only two gods I worship are.....
@dccomicsrule2011: Bible..... Thumper? That's a new one. I'm assuming it means theist, correct?lmao. @johnny_anonymous: ..... Look at post #23. Who the hell does that guy think he is?
Well it caused WW2. If all the Jews were Hindu or something then Hitler wouldn't have gotten so ticked off.
@i_like_swords: Nope. Hitler didn't hate them for their religion, he hated them because he envied their abnormally large nose and ability to save money.
@The_Deathstroker: Which they wouldn't have had they believed in Hinduism. Then they'd have dots on their head and meditate all the time. Hitler wouldn't have touched Poland.
@The_Deathstroker: @i_like_swords:
@i_like_swords: You're right..... But @laflux: is more right. He has video proof.

You just one the internet mate
Depends on the war.
It has started a lot of wars, but so has oil.
Oil and resources is the number cause of war in the modern era.
@gojira2014: not necessarily, name the modern wars that was started by oil/resources that make it more so than religion?
All of the fighting over the holy lands, the religious radicals crashing into twin towers etc... It is still a HUGE cause.

Please. All the radicals that fight are just mindless sheep lied to by those who want resources. The leaders of Pakistan want the holy land for religion purpose? no they just want the land. Russia reclaiming lost lands? Resources. WW2 in general over religion? Resources. Vietnam? Conquer country not Religion. America in any war over Religion? Nope. Has Britain Europe in general fought any religious wars post WW1? Nope.
The only people who fight for religion are the sheep troops of those wanting more land.
@gojira2014: yes, but religion has been the tool used to start many wars. You simply cannot say that the people that crashed planes into buildings didn't believe they were dying for Allah. Religion is a tool use to gain desired resources.

being a tool for war, and being the reason for war is two different things. this is asking cause of War. not what is used to help wage it.
@gojira2014: religion is the reason people fight, hence is why it is such a great tool. What else could get people to go suicidal into the twin towers if it wasn't for their religion? Religion itself is a rally cry to others that starts wars, motives behind wars and the actual cause is different. The actual cause of war would be the religious radicals dying for their God while the motive could be completely different by the people pulling the strings.

Once again the question is why do people, countries, ect cause wars? Modern days it is 90% because political powers want resources or land. No self respecting country declares war over religion when they actively fight for expanded land.
Religion is a tool, not a cause in modern day wars.
@gojira2014: it is a tool, which its use has caused many wars.
@gojira2014: it is a tool, which its use has caused many wars.
Causation of War =/= tools to wage war
It caused only 7% of all wars in recorded history sooooo.....
This.
@gojira2014: The tool to wage war is an action, which is the cause for retaliation. A motive isn't a cause.
@The_Deathstroker: Which they wouldn't have had they believed in Hinduism. Then they'd have dots on their head and meditate all the time. Hitler wouldn't have touched Poland.
Is that supposed to be funny? Part of my family is Hindu and nobody besides Priests do that.

It was my attempt at sounding believably ignorant. Don't worry, I have nothing against Hindu people.
