Poll Is it weird to see a movie or go to a sporting event alone? (46 votes)

Yes 15%
No 72%
Depends(elaborate) 13%

If no one is available, I have absolutely no problem going to the movies, sporting events, or a restaurant alone; however, one of my friends thinks it's weird, and refuses to do it. I'm curious to see if people generally feel this way...

Well they're both social events, so going alone would be viewed as weird by the most people. I'm weird so I don't really care. But I imagine going to a sporting event alone would maybe be depressing. Movies are fine.

Sporting event: yes if you're not social with anyone there or actively conversing.

Movie: I never have, but I imagine it wouldn't be.

I usually go with my dad to the movie theaters, I've taken a few girls to the movies last year. But I've never gone alone, and come to think of it, it doesn't really matter if you're alone, it's not like you're talking to the person beside you about it as the film plays.

But I do guess it would be nice to talk to someone about the movie once it is over. I guess it depends on personal preference. I do enjoy movies more when I can share them with family and friends. It adds to the experience.

Maybe for sporting events, but I don't see a problem with people riding solo for a movie.

It's all in the mental. Even if i never talk to my bros about the thing when i go see a film (Before, During or After) i always rather join them in this action over jumping myself in. And now since i've moved, i live a hour away from the Cinema, i don't find the interest to do such a thing by myself. Too much trouble for little gain.

Ps:The way you present things about you and your dad on this website is very strange.

No, I mean that just proves you're capable of having some clean, good and safe fun without the need of company from others. In other words, it's normal.

IMO, it depends. I've seen movies by myself but they were all movies aimed towards my age group. I imagine if I had gone to see some G rated movie aimed at 7 year olds without a kid, people would've gotten suspicious. The same goes for sports.

I'm not but you mentionned he stopped you from talkingon the REAL LIFE voice thread and you also mentionnied him in REAL LIFE picture.

I go to the movies alone all the time.

I think it is to some people. I never have gone to a movie or social event alone but I really wanted to go see Battle Of Gods in theatres alone (My friends talk a shit ton during movies, and I sure as hell wasn't going to ask a chick to go see it with me lol) but I didn't want to be the creep dude who comes to the movie theater alone to watch an anime movie so I had to wait for the DVD/Blu-ray release lol

I go alone more often then not. I used to cover Lacross for the school paper, so I needed to be alone for that. And I despise people who talk through movies, so I always go alone.

No, it is not. It can get weird if you make it weird however. There might be someone thinking "Lolol, probably got stood up.", but I wouldn't care, if I enjoy something I do it.

Extremely weird, unsettling, awkward, cringe-worthy, and most of all sad… like an unnerving, potent, type of sadness, pity sadness specifically.

Therefore you should always surround yourself with like fifty or more people, whenever you do anything. Join a gang or cult or Adam Roses Rosebuds, don't be a lemon. When you travel in massive groups of fifty or more people, no one will think you are sad, lonely, awkward, a loser, or weird. They'll think wow… that guy or girl or neutral gendered person is really cool and popular, they have like… at least fifty friends… thats more friends than I even have on Myspace Facebook. I am so jealous.

Not just movies or sports events though, always go with large groups of people to everything, communal showers, work, work breaks, vacation, holidays, bed, bathroom, proctology appointments, speed dating, your grandparents funeral, because heres the truth. The absolute worst thing imaginable and physically possible worst thing… ever is for other people to judge you for doing things by yourself. Party time all the time! Hey! Hey! Hey! Woah ah oh woah oh, woaaaaah! Hey! Woah oh ah woah oh, woah oh ah woah woe ah woe woah! HEY!

I've gone to see movies by myself a couple of times, didn't mind it at all. I usually go with my brother, and a close cousin of mines.
