Yes

None is superior to the other. The advantage of capitalism, laissez-faire that is, is economic freedom, while the advantage of socialism is well... "security", aka people giving you free stuff for no effort at all.

The wealth in those kinds of countries circulate around the bureaucrats like Lenin, Stalin, Molotov, Khruschev. But still, real Socialism like France kills the spirit of free enterprise through taxes and whatnot, then politicians and "public service" rob everyone else. In Capitalism, Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Thomas Edison, and Warren Buffett actually make an effort to get rich.

@dewin50: And the Soviet Union remained an impoverished nation as the decades progressed. By Marx's standards the Soviet Union would be a 'dictatorship of the proletariat' aka not even a full fledged socialism. When Gorbachev decided on Glastnost, it was revealed how much corruption there was in the government. Socialism makes it much easier for government officials to take all the money for themselves.

I am fully aware that Capitalism isn't perfect, but I'd rather have entrepreneurs rather than greedy bureaucrats.

Yeah i'm just not fond of the idea of not sharing food with my little brother just because he didn't help me acquire it. I don't think Socialism or Communism is the way of the future but capitalism today is slowly but surely becoming more and more unstable.

@mandarinestro: that works two ways: if the US wasn't capitalist, then there wouldn't be any sanctions on Cuba either.

Guys theoritically socialism sounds great I know but it's not, it's the reason Greece is so f@cked up economically right now cause of the PA.SO.K socialist party acting like money grrew on trees that the country has the debt it does. I know you're thinking some few people destroyed a great idea but it was the idea they didn't have to bother destroyed them and if anyone would doubt their ways was socially cut out and slowly their reputation finances etc. destroyed, trust me you don't want socialism you're fine. Capitalism's gonna stop itself.

Socialism is the ideal way of doing things, but since humans are greedy and jealous things, it will never work, so capitalism will have to do.
