Or are people living here just biased, and the government isn't exactly perfect here.
Is America the "greatest country in the world?"
People are definitely bias and uninformed. Not that this is a bad country but I feel blind patriotism and ignorance go hand in hand.
Well, in comparison to other countries, it is a very convenient, free, diverse and democratic place to live, but no country is perfect. I also think that the American government should have less power than it has right now. Lower taxation, fewer strict regulations and more job growth would all help.
I can agree with this, and the blind patriotism someone mentioned above. I happen to love where I come from, but it is far from perfect and recognizing faults is as much an act of patriotism as supporting your country. Patriot has been over-used by politicians, all of whom design their own definition of it, and thus it has become a bit of a dirty word.
I wouldn't prefer to live anywhere else, and I'd rather improve it so it can be the country it should be for everyone here.
free
Ah yes, a place where you are monitored 24/7 and can be thrown in jail and even deported without trial screams free.
diverse
By far the most homophobic and racially insensitive place I've ever been to.
democratic
If by 'Democracy' you mean 'Republic', then I agree.
Name a country that's better. America may not be that good, but it's better than all the others.
Wow, someone's biased.
@squares: how? I just asked if you could name a better country.
@squares: how? I just asked if you could name a better country.
No, you also stated that America is better than every other country.
Unless you can name a country that's better, America is better by far than most countrys except a few like Germany.
Edit: I made it sound like Germany is better, it's not. But almost.

Heaven forbid you should call Germany better than the US. That would be silly.
I'm still waiting for you to name a country you think is better than the U.S.
Sweden, Canada, Germany, Switzerland, England, Singapore, and Curacao, to name a few off the top of my head.
@supernategames: Ireland, Switzerland, Norway, Luexemburg among others by quality of life specifically. Qata, Brunei and Macaus by GDP/per Capita. Andorra, Finland and Greenland by literacy rates. Like I said it all depends on how you quantify greatest.
It depends on what matters to you. Depending on what criteria you rank as higher, the "best Country" to you is different. If you rank a country solely on education, the United States is not the greatest. If you rank it solely on healthcare, the United States is likely the greatest.
So, there really is no "greatest Country." Different countries are the greatest at different things.

Yeah, US healthcare is great...if you have a crap ton of insurance, otherwise you're out in the cold.
I'll have to look into a few of them like Sweden. Switzerland is up there with Germany, and they are close to being as good as the U.S. England got defeated by the U.S. a couple hundred years ago, and I heard their economy is worse than America's.
And really, Canada? You think that's better than the U.S. I lived in Germany, Canada, and I currently live in the U.S. I have to say Canada was by far the worst.
Racism and Homophobia don't exist in other countries?
Not sure how you could misinterpreted such a simple statement. I'm just gonna repeat it.
North America is the most racist and homophobic place I've ever been to.
I have no idea why you are connecting diversity with Racism and Homophobia
What were you talking about when you said 'diverse' if you weren't talking about the people?
This has not happened to me yet.
Well, I'm sure you've never been murdered, guess we don't need to worry about that, either?
I also have not noticed any surveillance cameras or police officers in my residence or at the workplace, but I guess they might be invisible. lol
If the whole NSA scandal has managed to pass you by this long, I wouldn't rule it out as an impossibility that you've missed some CTTV cameras, too.
Democratic as in not totalitarian.
Not that far off, though.

Where did you live in Canada?
I thunk dat Amerikkuh is da best cuz we r free unliek other cuntries in da werld. :}

You beat me to it.
@supernategames: Military power doesnt make you great it makes you powerful.

That's actually pretty insightful.
@_gaff_: was surprised it hadn't been posted all ready
such an underrated show
@squares: Not attacking you, because despite my post above I actually agree with you, just looking to expand because I agree with several of your points. The US is far, far from perfect. Admitting that is the first step to fixing the problems that exist. Which is why I've always been against terms such as "best". I know your comments weren't directed at me, but if you look at my post it's why I said I prefer it here. Preference isn't deeming anywhere else worse off than any other place. I think this is where nationalism is fundamentally flawed. You can be proud of where you come from, you may consider it the best. But at the end of the day, that's all it is, best for you the individual. Saying it's just flat out the "best" is, well, ignorant.
I agree our healthcare system needs work, as does our taxation, welfare, voting, and others. But no where is perfect, nor will any place ever be.
Anyway I've digressed, there is no "best place", just your own preference. I've been around the world, and met plenty of people from plenty of places. That is one benefit of the military that I love, I get exposed to many cultures and get to see so many places. I prefer it here, but I can absolutely see why someone wouldn't and I don't begrudge them for it.
@fallschirmjager: ... That was amazing and so true...
This is the right answer. What falls said.
America cant be the greatest country since its an continent
Roman Empire>Usa
Premier Empire (Napoléon)>Usa
Ancient greeks>Usa
Genghis Khan>Usa
Germany Nazi (time)>Usa (In military forces and in terms of resistance against the murderers called Government)
and i'm skipping a lot...
Sincerly,
