Internet Reacts to Daniel Tosh' Racy Joke

And I thought Spoony's drama was ridiculous and out of line. Comedian Daniel Tosh recounted on a blog post about making statements that rape jokes were funny, to which the woman shouted, “Actually, rape jokes are never funny!” In response, Tosh reportedly said, “Wouldn’t it be funny if that girl got raped by like, 5 guys right now? Like right now? What if a bunch of guys just raped her?”, causing the woman to flee the theater out of fear for her own safety. He apologize afterward but many people are still upset for what he did and are bashing him endlessly. This lead to several rape jokes from a new TV series getting edited from out at the time this controversy started.While they are both tasteless, one must notice that unlike Spoony's rape joke, Tosh's wasn't directly toward the woman he was talking to, really vague in nature, genuinaly apologized and is trying to let go of this incident. This controversy manage to get even more childish and immature than from ThatGuyWithTheGlasses.com and that is quite a accomplishment.

ALL of Daniel Tosh's jokes are racy!!! That's one of the things I like about him...he makes fun of EVERYONE and EVERYTHING and doesn't hold anything back for fear of offending someone

Tosh made a tasteless offensive joke? For real? That just can't be, we all know he's never been anything but respectful. If you don't know that sarcasm work on your reading comprehension, this isn't even the first time he's made rape jokes, dude talks about rape, murder and pedophilia all the time this is not news.

Seriously? She feared her own safety? Someone just trying to make a scene. I'm not a big Tosh fan, but her behavior was stupid.

And Spoony's joke was hardly a rape joke. The stupid drama was about far more than that. It was tensions building from a long time exploding.

2. someone in the audience yelled "rape"
3. Lady yelled "Rape is never funny"
4. Tosh replied.

That being said, I think rude comedy is the lowest form of comedy...and the easiest. Way to take the low road, Tosh.

I don't find anything Tosh does very funny, but I don't hate him. He's okay, there's just far better comedians out there. Donald Glover and Louis C.K. are good examples.

Probably wouldn't have happened if she didn't open her mouth. You don't comment about what is and what isn't funny when you go to see Tosh. He doesn't care. Most of his jokes are uncomfortably over the line. Everyone should know that before they show up.

I kind of agree with this.. I've watched Tosh.O and his humour can be offensive to some people. sure... but if you're going to see a show... you should know what you're going to see... and this isn't the first time Tosh has made jokes of this sort...

I think Frankie Boyle does offensive comedy really well. I haven't really seen too much Carlin no matter how many times @primepower53 tries to force him on me...(that ties into the subject as well...) Dave Chappelle will always remain my favourite comedian though...

I don't agree with the part about rude comedy being the easiest. Everyone that tells "rude" jokes isn't funny.

Well, it is difficult...perhaps impossible to quantify how difficult it is to create a joke, so let me put it this way. Anybody can see someone's flaws and make fun of them or make rude, over-the-top, and offensive statements about someone. Not everyone can do clever word plays, make humorous and amusing observations about life, or do an amusing imitation. Granted, just because you insult somebody doesn't mean you can make it funny, but it seems to me that the first category is a lot easier to pull off than the second.

It's an adult comedy show. This is like being offended in a Strip Club. SMH at people nowadays.

This reminds me of the time my store manager and her subordinates were doing their morning tour after we all clocked out before the morning shift. I came back an hour later slightly inebriated and decided to check out the new release movies. The group made their way to an endcap I was standing in front of. I could feel my entire body swaying, my body's attempt to keep itself upright. The store manager asked how I was and I ignored her. She waved it off and asked what was wrong with this picture and several of her subordinates gave wrong answers. 
Out of boredom, maybe even the fact she was hot, I told them all a little story. 
"This reminds me of the time I was at a porn convention." 
By the looks on their faces, they didn't want to hear it. I continued, anyway. "So there I was walking through the convention, kind of bored. As I passed by various booths, signings and I flicked anything in arm's reach, something caught the corner of my eye: I saw a huge gathering at a little booth with none other than my favorite porn star taking questions from fans. I thought, 'I've got to get in on this.' I walked up and listened to people ask stupid things like 'Do you enjoy it?' and 'Do you have to start over when someone coughs?' I'm thinking, 'Stupid. Just stupid.' Now it was my turn to ask the questions, the ones that actually mattered. I grabbed the microphone, "I guess the only thing I have to ask is this: What inspires you?--no, what makes you get up every single day to do what you do?' You know what she says to me?" 
The managers stayed silent. 
"Baa-a-aaa-aaa-aaa-aaa," I bleated. 
One manager, offended, says while gritting her teeth, "Do you realize this is a family-oriented store?" 
I said, "No more questions." 
I managed to insult her without actually insulting her, and everyone loved me in the end. In hindsight I should have said, "No autographs."

@Glitch_Spawn: Hey, I like Tosh for the most part and I love comedians like Jimmy Carr and what not... but I think that there are certain things that just offend people. I mean if I were a rape victim, I would not like to hear jokes about rape. That's why I think it goes back to knowing what you are paying for. Tosh is a comedian that makes jokes about sensitive subjects. If you are sensitive, don't go see a Tosh show. Simple as that. I wasn't there so I am not going to sit and judge what happened. It could of been offensive to that woman for numerous reasons. Rape in itself is a serious subject and there are people who do not think that jokes about it are funny at all. Clearly this woman was one of them. She never should of gone to see Tosh. I don't think it's being prude, just that some people are more receptive to taking things in a very light-hearted manner, even if they are serious subjects, then others

I'm not a major fan either, but I don't see how you can complain for some racy jokes in an Adult Comedy show. If you are going to an Adult Comedy show, you should be expecting those type of jokes. (sex/racism/violence etc.) It's called an Adult Comedy show for a reason.

@danhimself: You're right it makes it that much funnier. And that lady is lucky most comedians DESTROY hecklers if you ask me the Tosh man was pretty sympathetic.
