Data scrubbing, also called data cleansing, is the process of rectifying or removing data in a database that is incorrect, incomplete, or duplicated. An organization in a data-intensive field like life sciences, publishing, research organizations, infrastructure industry, manufacturing firms, technology organizations and various other verticals across the globe use services from consultants for data cleansing and data scrubbing to systematically examine data for flaws by using rules, algorithms for data quality and scrubbing component that are capable of correcting a number of specific types of mistakes such as missing, inconsistent or duplicate records. Often, the existing data has no consistent format being derived from many sources. Or it contains duplicate records and items and may have missing or incomplete descriptions. Data cleansing process integrates and fixes de-duplication, common data anomalies and errors. The data is normalized so that there is common name standardization of product category and vendor items and so on, applicable to various situations in various organizations and businesses.
