I may just be jumping to conclusions here but I've noticed that a lot of people who I used to hear from pretty much every day on here haven't been around so should I assume these folks just dropped comicvine?
I'm thinking that either most people are busy at this time of year or a lot of people are still trying to get used to the new set up of comic vine. When I first got back onto comic vine after it changed its format, a lot of people I usually talked to weren't really responding until a few days after the new format was put up. Maybe some people are still getting used to this new format? It's just a guess though...
Ah don't get on the forums much anymore, and for some reason ah cannot log onto my older username 'BiteMe-Fanboy'.. Ah tried everything but nothing works, so ah started using this one more often.
Ah hate the new layout, yeah ah'm bitchin' and complainin', yada yada, but plain and simple, ah don't like it.
But ah reckon ah will get use to it, like everyone else.
I wouldn't worry too much about it. People come back or they don't. So the layout is terrible; people will adjust. Matter of fact, the people who disappear probably found a better hobby. I'm thinking about scrapbooking.

Yep. For some reason ah can't log into my BiteMe-Fanboy username. Says ah am entering the wrong password, and when ah try to get a new one sent to my email it says invalid email.. Ah blame ComicVine's new layout. Heh.
And that 6000+ post count was startin' to look nice.. Oh well.
There are a number of reasons that someone might temporarily disappear from ComicVine or any forum for that matter. Some might make alternate accounts, some might leave to focus on schooling or work, or it could be entirely due to personal reasons and they can't handle the stress. Those are just but a few, but everyone is different and it would differ depending on the individual.
Don't fret though, give them time and they will return when it best suits them :)
I've noticed this too. I think it's a tad ridiculous if they did truly leave due to the layout though. I mean why let it ruin your experience on here? But who knows, maybe members are still on here. It's a bit hard to tell who's active and what not since we can't see who's currently online and offline. That's supposed to change around sometime this week though.
@bushwhacker_: I had the exact same problem. Have you been using capitals when you log in because that was my problem as soon as I removed the capitals boom was able to get access again for example try biteme-fanboy instead of using the caps.

PM all the mods. Some new "mods" are part of the programming staff and they helped another user get his old account back by resetting his password.

I'd jump ship if there was a ship to jump to! The CV reboot has really been not to my liking, not much I can do about it though. It's changed, how it is, is how it will be. So I will skirt the periphery, maybe work out how to start my OWN fan-fic website :)
But yeah, they changed and became yuck like fanfiction.com or fan-story.net, where nobody comments. If I wanted that, I'd of joined them. But what's done is done, there is little I can do...except back away slowly, shake my head and remember how it use to be...

Try switching the hyphen into an underscore. Worked for me.
I've noticed a lot of the posters on the thread seem to think I'm talking about one specific person, I'm not. If it was just one or two people I wouldn't sweat it cause as has been pointed out people do have lives outside the vine and things come up. I'm talking about the few dozen people who used to be on here every day that now haven't been heard from in a week.

@joshmightbe: I don't know their reasons, but personally, I was completely disheartened by the redesign. Things like some bugs (like the bolding above that I didn't do [that disappeared a couple minutes after I typed this]). But mostly, my personal blogs were ruined, and they represent a few thousand hours of work. And some can't be fixed, because of the changes to the way images are displayed. That sucks.
The layout makes a difference if you've done blogs that took advantage of the full page view of blogs, and that's now ruined by an ad on the right side of the page. If spoiler blocks and certain sized images were part of your blogs, that's gone now. I can't see where the redesign has helped anything except ad placement. So it's hard to get back into CV as if this is just a "new look." :/
