I have no shame on this subject. I will defend it. Kevin Costner in a post-apolalyptic setting is pure entertainment.
I like Waterworld. And the Postman is even better.
I thought the Waterworld was unrealistic action flick as they come. But I thought it was alright.
I haven't seen the Postman however.
I LOVED the Postman, my father made me watch it with him after he saw how much I enjoyed the Fallout Games.
Waterworld was alright, not the best, but still enjoyable.
I like these movies too... I never understood the hate of Kevin Costner. The thing that I hear when I question this is that he isn't acting or just acts the same way in every movie and my thoughts as to that is... Have you not seen a hollywood movie? Most of the "famous" actors act the same way in every movie... and when they don't a lot of people scream bloody murder about how much they suck.
Waterworld was fun and didn't deserve the hate it got. The Postman is too long, and boring as hell. People generally dislike Cosner because his acting style is very subdued. This made him very unlikely as the action hero he was being cast as in the 90's, but very well suited to quieter dramatic roles like Dances with Wolves and it makes him very suited to playing the 'dad' character like in MoS.
@samimista: Vacation. Classic 80's :)
The Postman is a classic.
A classic what??
From what I remember, and it's been a long time since I watched these particular movies, neither was especially good. Waterworld was basically a waterlogged remake of The Road Warrior, with little new to offer. As far as The Postman, I just remember it being extremely boring. And at the end, when I thought finally there was going to be some action and they set up a big battle... nothing. Just two guys rolling around in the dirt and then everyone goes home.
