Only if you're a pokemon

It isn't just start random fights and watch as you get more skilled in less than half the regular time ;)

@waezi2: Are you asking this question, seriously?

#7 Posted by JakeN7 (13186 posts) - - Show Bio

@waezi2: Your game is fine and you should be celebrating for contracting it.

A little research goes a long way, waezi. ;p

#8 Posted by waezi2 (8423 posts) - - Show Bio

@jaken7: Well, I was unsure if it was safe or not. Like Missing-No.

#9 Edited by JakeN7 (13186 posts) - - Show Bio

@waezi2: No, it's not like Missingno (leftover source code). Pokerus is like getting a shiny. It was put in there on purpose.

Which game did you contract it on?

Noobs.

Pokerus doubles the effort values you gain for that Pokemon. Infect all your pokemon with it and it will be easier to EV train them. Do this via breeding, trading, etc.

@fallschirmjager: I got it from a Pokemoncenter. They healed my team, and then they said they were infected

Yes, it happens. Its a good thing. You want all your pokemon infected because it halves the time you need to spend EV training (though since I'm assuming you didn't know what Pokerus is, you probably don't EV train properly anyway :p)

#21 Posted by waezi2 (8423 posts) - - Show Bio

@fallschirmjager: Not really. I sometimes breed, and trade from my other games, but that's it. I have a lv 100 team if I meet another player, but I restart my games from time to time, except one.

Wait... is pokerus real?

#27 Posted by wildvine (10367 posts) - - Show Bio

@waezi2:

No. Its freaking awesome. I highly recommend you keep one infected Pokemon in your PC to spread the infection to future captured mons. The virus won't clear up as long as Pokemon is in your PC.

Also, do you have gen 4 or higher? I'd love an infected Pokemon. Specious not important.

@wildvine: Um, I have gen 5. How can I see what Pokemon who has pokeruse?

Online
#29 Posted by AweSam (7376 posts) - - Show Bio

@wildvine: So, it is real? I assumed it wasn't real because I've never gotten it and I've played every gen.

It should say on the Pokemon's status screen.

It is actually. I caught it on my Pearl version and had a few infectee's in my PC just to make more of it.

Pretty much this, but consider that it's quite rare. I remember the first time one of my Pokemon contracted it when I was playing Pokemon Black. I was in a huge panic until someone on Twitter corrected me. XD

#33 Posted by MaccyD (5111 posts) - - Show Bio

@fallschirmjager: One thing I don't like (think it got sorted in X/Y) is how much EV training is about guessing. Without using internet, it's hard to guess which pokemon gives what EV and what EV values you pokemon currently has. Is there any way in-game to check this kind of stuff?

@wildvine: That is what I wanted to avoid. Relying on the internet to help calculate EVs.

Scroll down. It tells you how to find out EV's in the games.

@wildvine: Where? The effort ribbons, the super training or something else?

It's awesome.

Spread it to other guys and don't look back. Keep guys in your box with it, since they cant lose it while in the box.

You can fully EV train 4 or 5 guys in like 15 minutes.

The effort ribbons are only really useful if you know you're near the maximum amount of EVs.

@awesam: You're not alone. I've been playing Pokemon for 19 years and have never contracted it. Much rarer than shinys.
