I just failed textbroker's 10-question proofreading test.
Now I can't take it again for three months.
I got 40% of the answers correct.
Edit: Apparently according to this it isn't exactly what you might call 'possible'. Hmm. Further plans pending.
@joygirl: Sorry
Sorry?
What's the text broker test?
Textbroker.com is the company I now work for. Their proofreading test is, apparently, the most difficult thing a human can hope to attempt, next to genocide.
There are ten questions with multiple options. Some sentences have multiple correct possibilities, others do not.
You have to get nine out of ten questions correct -- which means getting every single optioncorrect.
Well you haven't failed me, for what it's worth. The only way to fail is to give up, and I know you would never do that. This is an unfortunate setback, but I know you will get right back out there, cos that is just how our Joy rolls <3
<3 But this "unfortunate setback" will keep me at 1.5 cents per word (as opposed to 5) for another three months. Provided I can actually ever complete the test.
Well that sucks. You'll probably pass it next time though. Is it the same questions every time or different?
@joygirl: I'm sorry if it sounded as if I was trivializing your predicament. But, I do know the feeling. I failed an entrance exam to get into Notre Dame's Criminal Psycology Dept. You want to talk about being crushed...
That being said, i have faith that you will redeem yourself. I've read some of your work. You'll get it done.

I'm not sure. They didn't even LOOK that hard, I thought I'd at least get the 9/10... I got 4.
@joygirl: Oh, I didn't mean it like that, I wasn't belittling how big a deal this is or how much it means to you :) But I believe in you, you are super smart and you can do this.
Thanks. <3 I'm just kinda super depressed now.
@joygirl: Sorry :(
Wish you luck for next time !
@joygirl: Cheating is never the right answer... unless you know you won't get caught.
@dctv3363: The only way they could know I was cheating is if it's literally not possible to get the answers correct, which seems likely. I just read a couple articles about it -- apparently the test is NOT actually 100% vital to a 5-ranking, and it's also not really something anyone can do successfully.
@joygirl: For what its worth you may consider this a failure but at least this "failure" won't end in you or someone else getting killed. Silver lining: found.
@granitesoldier: Yup. It's not the end of the world.
It just really really sucks.
@joygirl: Its a setback to be sure. Setbacks are only failures when you quit. I don't sense quit. Just press on. You'll get it.

No actually. Check the article I posted above. There have been people who spent their three months studying textbroker policy and scored lower than they did before.
@joygirl Chin up kid. Train up and soon you'll get it. Being good at something isn't the path to success. Keeping at it, is.
@joygirl: Hm, so what's the point of a test that seems impossible for all intents and purposes? Or perhaps I'm not understanding something about this test? But it seems it's a common theme so why make this test in the first place?

Life has been teaching me that. I've been a poor student so far.

I've been asking myself all these same questions.
Maybe they secretly read your answers and then give you a low score just to discourage you, to see if you'll leave immediately.
I have no idea.
@joygirl: Oh ..... I think they'll understand. Sometime we don't always hit it every time. Only way you can truly fail them is if you fail to pick yourself up.
I s'pose we'll see.

Maybe they want to see if you'll cheat, and get a high score.
I asked him is he knew you, and he made a thread asking who you were. I believe him, the whole name thing was a coincidence.
