Hulk Rants: Stop Hunting the Animals (and destroying their homes)

Posted by TheHulk (406 posts) - 3 months, 4 days ago - Show Bio

Welcome back to Hulk Rants. Today, Hulk discuss endangered species and animals and the puny humans that hunt them and destroy their homes. Hulk have one thing to say to you: Just stop. Please. Hulk don't know why people can't just let animals live their lives. Instead, they hunt them and destroy their homes. Hulk admit, Hulk have destroyed some trees while calming down in the forest, but Hulk limited himself to how many trees so Hulk don't destroy too many animals' homes. You humans do it left and right.

Not only are animal's homes in danger. Animals themselves are too.

There used to be 100,000 tigers in Asia in 1900. Now, there only 3,500 in the wild.

Zoos seem to be having trouble doing their jobs at conserving animals. Some do a lot better than others, but some are just doing poor at it. You need to do better at conserving animals and breeding them in captivity to make more of them so they don't go extinct.

And sharks are in danger too (Jaws is responsible and here why). Jaws gave sharks reputation of being man-eaters. The reality is, humans kill more sharks than vice versa. Only reason sharks attack humans is they mistake surfer on surfboard for a seal.

One species of rhino already went extinct last year (the Western Black Rhino). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Western_black_rhinoceros

Hulk don't want to see another species go extinct, too. It could be elephants or lions or tigers next. Just stop killing them and destroying their homes you selfish humans.

What are your thoughts on this matter? Have you done anything to help save animals, like donate money or something? Tell Hulk in comments below.

I study environmental science and want to work for the DEC. The majority of endangered species have intrinsic value. Keystone species are invaluable to the environment. Planetary needs>human needs>animal needs>human wants.

@TheHulk: Hulk I'm sorry to say but the tiger might very well in the same lines as below. The article below was taken from the huffingtonpost.

Species losing their fight for survival should be left to become extinct, if it means having resources free for other animals and plants, a survey of professional conservationists has found.

Experts are beginning to resign themselves to the idea that certain animals and plants are just too difficult to save.

A majority of the 583 experts surveyed by an academic at York University believe the time has come to consider shifting efforts away from endangered species such as pandas and tigers, to concentrate on others that have more chance of flourishing in the wild.

Questions have been raised in recent years as to whether resources on certain endangered animals could have been better spent elsewhere. The Canadian government has spent millions trying to rescue the Atlantic Salmon while the Chinese government has also poured money into trying to breed Giant Pandas, with little success.

Particularly where the loss of habitat is almost inevitable, there are serious doubts as to whether it is worth spending money trying to keep numbers up artificially, which is the case with famous endangered species - pandas and tigers. This change of heart comes in the wake of the World Bank pledging about $100 m exclusively to save the wild tiger, a generous figure that came under criticism.

Dr Murray Rudd, an environmental economist at York University, carried out the study published in Conservation Biology. He concluded that scientists now are facing the challenge in conservation is to know "what's beyond help and what's not".

So basically it's a dilemma whether to save a dying out species or to allow nature to take it's course and allocate resources to other animals.

I'm on the fence in my opinion on this one but here's what George Carlin has to say

Agreed. I don't get their motives, if it's the money, do they not realize after they hunt an endangered species to extinction, they can't make any more profit? At least let them reproduce for a while before hunting them again.

With all due respect, while I agree with you're points I think there are about 1000 more(and bigger) problems in this country Obama needs to worry about first

@_Creed_: No, I think Hulk doesn't want people killing tigers. But all the animals the tigers kill is just fine.

I killz frr fun!

@The_Lunact_And_Manic: That is messed up. 1 human is worth more then a billion non sentient animals.

@TheHulk:

Obama's going to talk talk talk and do nothing. He's no better than the politicians in Sacramento who try to eliminate green house gases by tearing out incomes for middle class citizens to spend on union thugs.

I say we go to the countries that still believe in medicinal hoodoo using endangered animal genitals and screw it into their heads that Viagra works better than fried tiger ****.

If people want to hunt exotic animals, go to a reserve that's being forced to cull excessive herds. Better option would be to open up a wild life farm like some Africans are doing. These farms breed endangered animals for commercial and hunting purposes, with the idea that ones bred in captivity are a better option than wiping out vulnerable wild populations.

It's what's going on with several less endangered black and white rhino species.

@VercingetorixTheGreat: That doesn't mean that I have to like Humans beings.

I just don't like people, and I would choose any other life form over humans.

Sue me.

I specified planetary vs animal and human needs for a reason. Planet encompasses all life. Decent air, water, resource management, international stability, etc; things that mostly benefit the entire world while minimizing the negatives.

Some states do have laws that you can hunt during a certain number of months. It should really become a law. I like my crabs, lol.

@VercingetorixTheGreat: Thats fine if you think that but planet needs means mutualism, not like literally the Earth's crust .and orbit. I mean planetary needs as the former, or at least commensualism. What I'm refering to, for super-specific example, would be reducing mechanical waste disposal on Indian shores. Soils and water health is less affected, farmers and fisherman profit, the local children that collect the parts don't risk illness, and wildlife populations have room to recover. But granted, the offshore companies that use these Indain "landfills" would have to spend more money on waste managment. There are ways around that don't harm anything, as well. All of this falls under planetary needs; humans needs as approached to encompass both animal need and human wants.

Exactly. Animals have feelings, needs, wants and emotions like we do. They're living creatures.

But, there are good things puny humans doing to stop it as best as possible. Laws banning hunting of elephants, and harsher punishments for people who abuse animals, like dogs, rats, and cats for examples.

#38 Posted by Rumble Man (11119 posts) - 3 months, 2 days ago - Show Bio

Animals are meant to be eaten, not abused

yet I fear of that the Tuna might be extinct, it is too tasty to be extinct :(

Doesn't Hulk always destroy forests and other natural habitats when he goes on a rampage?

Well that is because of loss of habitat... due to Humans.

I agree Hulk, humans need to stop being so selfish as to kill billions of animals each year to satisfy TASTE. That is mostly what it comes down to. If the world would slow down their meat consumption (or better, get rid of it), the world would be a much more habitable place for a longer period of time. Factory meat production has been estimated to account for 10-15% or more of green house gasses, and the majority of plant crops are consumed by factory animals, instead of going to humans directly.... how is that efficient? Also there are huge water consumption numbers for factory animals, that again could be used for humans or other wild animals. The ocean fisheries are even worse. In the 1900's a Cod fish from the Atlantic were ~10 times the size that they are today, and a lot, lot more numerous. What do most places that sell 'fish n chips' use? Cod like they used to? No, because there aren't very many cod to go around. If you look at the whaling and fishing industry, it began with the largest, most profitable fish and whale, and then it was nearly extinct, so they went on to the next and repeated this cycle. Now in the Chesapeake Bay Jelly Fish are moving in to fill the niche left by cod and the other species that have been over fished. I could go on....

You asked what do other people do? Well I am Vegan and donate money to Greenpeace and WWF among other organizations. Just filled out my taxes, and donated more than $400 in 2012. I would like to do more...
