How To Be Extremly Offensive On TV And Get Away With It

Family Guy, South Park, and any other show you can think of that is offensive. What is the key to their success? Simple. They all had major criticism when they first became TV shows, but now most people enjoy them. Why? It is because everyone gets really mad when one thing is constantly being made fun of like a specific religion. Why these shows last is they don't make fun of one thing, they make fun of everything, religion, celebrities, countries, etc. If you're going to make fun of one thing, make fun of it all. This is the secret behind the success of these TV shows. Post what you think bellow and yes, Family Guy, South Park, etc. gifs are recommended.

I never find a joke offensive even when it's directed towards my country, ethnicity, or religion. People just get butthurt too easy these days.

But what else? The Muhammad one is a given.

There was an episode of family guy where he told the Nazis where Anne Frank was. Now that is definitely going to far.

You have to be a comedian or be very outspoken from the start like Eminem.

I'm up for mocking anything, but it is worth mentioning that Family Guy gets props for being edgy by bashing Christianity...like nearly every other show in Hollywood. If you really have some balls, do a TV episode starring Mohammad.

It's the recipe for being famous as well. That, and "leaked" sex tapes.

Family Guy has been relying on being offensive than actual humour for a while now.

And yet a few years before, they showed him completely uncensored and that went unchallenged. Probably says a lot about the big changes in political climate, religious attitudes and cultural (over?)sensitivity that it was only a big deal the second time around.

What I find offensive is the repeated use of "to", rather than it's correct other, "too".

The Kurt Cobain shotgun joke was pretty good. South Park really impressed me with that one.

I used to think they were funny, but I got over it after a few seasons, most people I know aren't big fans of either anymore

now they just use shock value and attempts to be offensive as a replacement for humor

like with the Simpsons/Family Guy crossover, at lots of Family guys "jokes" I just shook my head

Exactly. When nothing is out of bounds for you to make fun of, you can't be accused of targeting anything specific.

They have a lot of fan power believe it or not, if a network tries anything they will get a huge backlash from fans and will lose money which is the most important thing
