@yung_ancient_one: I only posted the video to show people proper form, not promote 5 minute timing or anything like that. I may have exaggerated a bit on the 5 rep max. But, I once saw a Muscle & Fitness article that talked about what the average male American can do. I don't remember exactly how many pushups it said, but many of the stats were pretty pathetic. It said average dudes could only do ONE pullup. It had other exercises with terrible reps and stuff like that. So yeah that's why I set it so low.
How many push-ups can you do?
@silkyballfro94: I believe the one pull up being the max. Pull-ups are not easy for novices in my opinion. I wouldn't be surprised if I can only do one "correctly." As far as I know I been doing them right. My max has been 7 one set I think (I know I'm weak. I've workedout with my bodybuilding buddies. I know). I only do 5 at a time and have done 20. However, thinking about it. I think the average young male can do 20-25 MAX one set of push-ups but I can see how men in their 40's and up changes the average MAX push-ups a average male can do. I'll change my opinion and say it is 5-25 MAX push-up for an average male depending on his age.(+)
Im totally out of shape man. . I can only do 6 right now, ill have a protein shake tomorrow morning, maybe pull 10.
You can do it!
I'm able to do 60 pushups in a minute, so I'm proud of that.
If I try really really hard I can probably reach 80 - 100 before I fall to the floor.
I've never tried to max out on push ups. I can do 50 after working out with dumbbells(curls, punching, etc) and shadowboxing.
@mortein: unless those b*tches from the bodybuilding forums are also on here, comicvine, in disguise... In that case we are screwed from every angle.
@bruxae: One mile really isn't that much. You can do it.
I haven't even attempted a push up in at least 5 years. Probably more.
I did just however spend 200 on a new keyboard and mouse and mat. Game on, Wayne
Now if you'll excuse me, I have to get back to watching Nymphomaniac Part 2 and reading Dejah Thoris (at the same time)
I have to be fit. Or at least capable. I work in the Fitness and wellness industry at a Spa, so it's required you not be a unhealthy. Seriously. My boss will make Damn sure you attend a yoga class or core class. Not to mention, I'm one of three male attendants.
That means I get all the fun. Dumping trash, 're-racking Weight's, carrying this big ass stage with one other dude from the 15 to the 16 floor. It's,in a pool storage room with no Damn elevator. So, yeah, stairs!
Plus, I didn't go to college and unless you know somebody here, good luck finding a job paying more then 8 bucks that isn't Manuel Labor. I've been working at warehouses since 19. Even at Wal-Mart I worked in the Dairy..which is basically warehouse work. And me and my lady I'm talking to don't have children so, I stay fit to make sure I can raise them like my dad did us and actually play with them.
Sorry for the biography. Lol
Bump because I enjoyed this scene, and Movie more than I should have.
At my prime i could make 40-50 when imused to practice boxing.. Now i can barely make 15
Sit ups is more of my thing, my record is 108 in a row.
On a good day 50-60 without stopping, on a bad day about 20-30, probably 10 if I'm not loose enough.
In one set I can squeeze out like 55-60 if I'm going all out.
A day I do like 200, 4 sets of 50.
Not bad, I'm a pretty lean dude so that is good for me.
I weight 140 and I'm 5'9.
@leonkarlen123: Switch out your sittups for jack knives. Seriously 1000× better.
I can't do push ups the normal way. Whenever I push I leave Earth's atmosphere. This means I gotta accurately time my pushes so I land on Mars and repeat the process.
My max is 3,500, on a bad day.
@silverpool: No idea what Jack knives is actually, but it sounds dangerous :!
@silkyballfro94: 1-5 is average? I disagree. I think 20-25 is average. 1-5 is really low imo.
@gymgoer205: Yeah I said I exaggerated the number a bit in post #101. I also found that muscle and fitness article/page if anyone is curious about the average American male's fitness.
