I always enjoy a good music video. It can be a good way to introduce me to a band I wouldn't normal bother with. A friend of mine just flat out refuses to watch them, he thinks they are nothing but ego stroking. I am a big fan of certain imagery and film effects. I recently seen a music video to The Negative One by Slipknot I haven't listened to Slipknot since 2001. A friend told me to check out the video because I would like the imagery. I loved the video and the song was very good. I even decided to check out all the other albums I missed by them just to see if there were other songs I might like. On the flip side there has been music videos that were awesome but the songs were terrible, yet I will still check out the video. Yet if I heard the song on it's own I wouldn't give it a second thought. I find a music video to be a good supplement to a song. Thoughts ?
How important are music videos to you ?
@i_like_swords: I have seen two of her videos and if there wasn't music I would actually think they were softcore porn videos. Disgusted that parents let young children watch that tripe.
@rev_sulphur: I dunno, she's a pretty good dancer. I think she has a lot of performing talent.
@i_like_swords: I haven't seen her dancing. Not in those videos anyway. Unless I am too old and that's what dancing is now.
@rev_sulphur: Do you know what twerking is?
@i_like_swords: Booty clapping.
@rev_sulphur: Yeah, been trying to teach it to my lil sis with her videos but she can't get the hang of it like Nicki lol
@i_like_swords: I dunno, I just always associated booty clapping, pelvic thrusting and boob shaking with being sexual and such. I have zero problem with people being sexual and been confident with that aspect of their body or life. I just find it weird when it seems to be a big part of a music genre that is mainly aimed at pre-teens. There are some music videos I would not let a kid watch and these would be songs in the charts at one point or another. I understand that sex sells I am male I get it I do. I have always viewed current pop music culture as pedophilic and soulless. So I really shouldn't be all that surprised.
For my generation (kids that grew up in the 80's & 90's) music videos were just as important as the albums themselves at one point. You had to have an great music video to accompany your album playing on MTV. Hell, Michael Jackson coming out with a new music video was an event unto itself back then! As unfortunate as it is, today they just are not important at all it seems. It's a lost art form that I miss :-/.

Yes, lots of talent shown in that Anaconda video!
@wolverine08: Pervert.

Based god compelled me!
@wolverine08: STAYEDBASED Brother
They can be really good, like Lover of the Light video, but if it's just a bunch of people dancing about then I'm not interested.
The video can actually turn me off of a song sometimes if it is not a video that I like, so I don't watch them.
@dagmar_merrill: Hey, hey. That's a low showing!
I'MMA BE STRAPPED NEXT TIME SO NOBODY TRIES ANYTHING WITH ME!

This song is my anthem- Lebron James
@laflux: KEVIN DURANT BROKE HIS LEG BECAUSE OF LIL B!

Kevin Durant didn't stay based :)
Not at all.
Not really at all. Some of the bands I listen to don't make music videos, and some of them haven't made videos in years, and honestly I couldn't care less. For me it's about the music.
It's not important to me at all. I'll watch them out of curiosity, but it no longer matters as much as it used to.
