Very simple question.

I always wanted to die from something painful and slow (I know it sounds awful) like a gunshot wound

I don't want to die in my sleep I want to see my death coming and I want to die because I made a choice to die.

Maybe taking a bullet for a loved one

@VercingetorixTheGreat: Choosing when to go seems like a good idea.

If it was something that I didn't choose though, getting crushed by a meteorite would be pretty good.

First and foremost, I'd like to have been able to have good bye (or probably "see you later") to my loved ones. As for the dying part, I think I'd like to slip into it the way one does with sleep.

Calm, relaxing, beautiful...and one can only imagine the wonders of waking up to the other side of all this.

How I really want to die is sacrificing myself for somebody else. Like taking a bullet or jumping in front of a car or something. I would hate to die in my sleep, I want to die knowing I'm dying and feeling the pain, but knowing I didn't die in vain, cause I'd see the person I helped standing there unharmed. OR, the most pleasant way to go would be dying of laughter, which is what I wish for everybody I love (when they're old if course). But you can laugh so hard that you literally stop breathing, but the thing your laughing at us just so damn funny that even though you know you can't breathe, your just so happy and amused that you keep laughing and die!! People have actually died that way!! That really makes me wonder, what could have been THAT funny!?!?

Step 1: Buy lots of piano wire and some superglue

Step 2: Stand on top of a tall building

Step 3: Tie one end of a wire 5 meters short of the ground to your ankles. Secure the other end to the top of the building.

Step 4: Tie one end of a wire 10 meters short of the ground in a lasso around your neck, so it can tighten when pulled. Secure the other end to the top of the building.

Step 5: Glue your hand to your head.

Step 6: Jump!

The Result: At 10 meters from the ground, the piano wire around your neck will tighten and slice your head off. Your head will, however, not fall because it is stuck to your hand. You will be found dangling upside down 5 meters from the ground with your head stuck to your hand.

Pretty much this.

I don't want to die from a gunshot wound. Not a bit.

I do, however, want to die saving someone from something, like being hit by a car.

Oh, hell yes, I'd be in pain and probably screaming in agony, and likely regret the decision afterwards. Still, it would be one of the few meaningful ways of dying that I would consider "good".

Alternatively, if I am denied my chance of saving someone else, I would wish to die in the arms of a loved one (maybe a wife, still unsure if I ever want to get married), peaceful, prosperous and happy.

Last alternative... Instant death. No pain, no feeling, no knowledge, just one minute I'm thinking "hmm minecraft is cool" and the next, I'm in the afterlife.

To the actual topic, I haven't really thought about this much. I don't even know what dying is like, so I can't really choose. I'd prefer death in sleep, though.

Living into atleast 2100 so I can say I have lived in 3 century's, Then dieing in sleep probably outliving the rest of my family :( I will have to live to 106 or so to reach 2100 I think - So not that unattainable.
