I remember seeing many viners saying they didn't like or that it was a terrible movie in past random threads. But I don't get why. Was it because of the aliens at the end? Was a sequel not wanted? Shia Labeouf? PIS? Bad storyline? What was it?

I actually liked it and thought it was classic Indiana Jones being classic Indiana Jones. Off topic: I saw Dawn of the Planet of the Apes today. That movie was absolutely perfect and entertaining all the way through. I highly recommend watching it, if you go to the movies.

Discuss.

Because people think the aliens thing was jumping the shark and they forget about the murderous Nazi-killing ghosts from the Ark of the Covenant, or the invisible bridge, or the Holy Grail that magically healed Sean Connery, or the fake grail that made a man spontaneously decay into dust, etc. that were all found in the original 3 films.

That it was, but not only are there at least comparably stupid laws of physics-denying stunts in the older films, but that one scene alone isn't enough for the entire movie to be lambasted and blamed for "raping your childhood."

Wasn't really a twist. Besides, what more could you want than knowledge? I'd take that over a dusty old artifact any day.

Bad writing and Shia Lebeofe (I don't know if I spelled that right, nor do I care.)

I can name a few things, but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to talk about them on Comic Vine.

My biggest problem with it in all honesty.

I wouldn't call it "sci-fi." The ancient astronauts theory is a rather old and very popular one. It's not like Indy went to space. I just think being ok with ghosts, but drawing the line at alines is a little silly.

It was fine. Honestly, if they took out Shia LaDouche, that part with the monkeys and the subpar CGI I'd rate it slightly above Temple of Doom.

I never understood why everyone hated that part with the fridge though. I mean, the Ark of the Covenant, the magic stones and the Holy Grail were all fine but the fridge is where you draw the line? Really?

It's just a dumb movie, the whole thing with Mac being good then being evil then pretending to be good before revealing he's evil again was stupid, that bit with the waterfalls was ridiculous and boring, jungle sword-fight bit was just silly, terrible CGI monkeys and gophers, nuking the fridge, just to name a few. I hate this movie

Basically this.

I didn't hate the movie, didn't mind the alien part, but I did find the parts with Shia and the bad CGI to be annoying. Other than that it wasn't really that bad.

Loved every minute.

I enjoyed his trip to South America and dealing with the tombs in an effort to find what Doc Ox was looking for. I also enjoyed the nuke scene as a shout out to how much atomic bombs were being tested in the 50's. I enjoyed the russians stepping on scene and liked Cate Blanchett's character and accent. The action was enjoyable as were the comedic bit's interjected in the storyline to keep it light and make it feel like its previous counterparts. I didn't mind the twist with aliens at all, as previously mentioned equally odd and random twists have happened in all the previous Indian Jones so why is this one so much different?

What really did it for me was following in the footsteps of the conquistadors through the jungle to the ancient temples. For some reason it always feels right when Indy is running for his life or fighting enemies in some jungle or temple.

It's a great enjoyable movie for the family. Keep it as such and don't look too deeply into a movie that is meant to be fun!
