Holy Shiste, Strict Much?

Okay, so I'm 14, and conferences were yesterday. I got a C on my report card, in math, my worst subject, and my parents flipped out. Grounded for a week? Acceptable, what NORMAL parents would do, but nope. Go higher.

2 weeks? Nuh-uh. More.

A month? 2 months? 6 months!? What!?

Now, by now, you're probably astonished already, but we're still not there yet.

A year. A full year. And remember, I live in the middle of f*ckig nowhere, so there aren't any fun places to go, things to do, or fiends within 30 miles of me.

And this isn't any average grounding, either. Lemme haut list off what all I'm losing here: All video games and my Xbox are getting sold, my PS3 and laptop, well my parents are keeping those for themselves and selling the old ps2 and desktop, my phone has been restricted to only being able to call or text my parents and 911, and my data shut off. So zero contact with anyone I know for the year.

I'm also being forced to run a schedule of get up, go to school, get home, go to sleep. Sleep from 4:00 PM to 7:00 am? Seems nice. If you're a comatose narcoleptic sleepwalker, that is.

Hmm, let's see.... Oh! Yeah, also, no TV or anything like that. Can't go outside, or I'll either freeze to death or get mauled by wild animals, and the only way I can be telling you all this is because I had this page loaded before the data shut off.

So not only am I grounded from absolutely everything ever for a solid year, some of my stuff isn't ever coming back, namely everything I own. So call it one of those "lifelong" groundings you hear about in movies and TV shows where they just unground themselves at age 18.

Well, what do you think? A bit too harsh? Well, considering I've had straight A's until now, I really do.

All that over a C? C'mon now.

I got two D's and my parents just told me to do better. And I thought my parents were strict.... Damn.

@gumflabica My mom prolly woulda did all that except I never had a PS3 or an Xbox or any game system, in fact. I already don't have a TV. Well I do but it can't get any channels so it's useless. So, in a way I understand.

I think your parents will get over it. Think about how many report cards you'll get in a year. After you start earning your A's and maybe some B's, they will give you your stuff back. Parents don't always give you the full punishment and it will tire them after having to enforce this. Trust me.

Sounds like your punishment is waaay to extreme. To be honest, I don't think you should be grounded at all. You shouldn't have to be in fear or stressed out about grades. Especially since you do have all A's besides that C. Shouldn't be a big deal.

Ok, now that I've gotten over the shock of that OP, time for a much more serious post. First off, this is a psychotic amount of punishment. A month or so would already be beyond an unreasonable amount of punishment for a single C. Hell, if the rest of your report card was straight A's, they should probably be rewarding you. But a year of grounding? That's just crazy. And selling all your stuff? What is wrong with these people? This, if it is true, is quite possibly the worst example of parenting I have ever heard of in my life.

@gumflabica: They just needed money so as an excuse they ground and they sell all of your stuff to have the money they need. I have seeing examples of this (never happened to myself) I have 4 friends that something like this happened and then They saw how the parents were using it to pay bills or buy stuff for themselves.

Sh*t happens. Lots of it.

Well since you're a consistent A getter and suddenly got a C, if I'm your parent that would certainly raise a flag or two (I came from a family with strong academic aptitude). Prior to you getting a C, maybe your parents notice certain changes in you that you yourself is unaware of. The best way to solve this is to sit this down with your parents and know what is the real deal and the cause of their concern, maybe you and your folks might set a good compromise after this.

BTW, are you in an scholarship program? If you are then that answered your question.

Also,you broke your brother's arm too right, that maybe a factor. Luckily, my MOM @samimista will not ground me for something like that. ;p

@overlordarhas: no program. And I only had a C because I fell behind in my last period class because I had to leave early for a week as could never get it all caught up.

Kill your parents.......

Tell them that if they don't reduce your punishment then you're gonna put them in a home once they're of age.

I was never in trouble for bringing home C's though I did get that "Did you really just say that?" look when I said I was okay with getting a C. Now the last time I got an F, I was on punishment for the remainder of the next semester, and I had to bring that F up any way possible. To this day, I still don't how I pulled an A outta that class in the end
