Yes it is. Given this information, researchers could likely create a version of HIV that is essentially harmless and prevents leukaemia
@decaf_wizard: it is an immunodeficiency virus, it is like saying chemotherapy is a cure for cancer. There is no strand of HIV that would work without sideffects and it wouldn't be side effects present during the effects of pills taken but indefinitely. That is not a cure, it would essentially cause someone to have a reduced immune defense system forever.
