Has God gone soft?

Is God not as feared as he once was? Do people see God as less wrathful and more loving nowadays?

(I'm talking about the way most people view him, not the way he actually is (if he exists))

Yeah. He's gone soft. He needs to toughen up and begin creating earth quakes and tsunami's and show these mere mortals who's boss. I'll page him shortly.

2. You should really state which god as there are several Monotheistic religions which worship a 'God' and all of them have different interpretations.

3. I'll presume you're referring to the Christian god as 80% of religious threads seem to do, so just read the new testament, it pretty much explains the whole situation.

@racob7: Well, you did just pretty much make a thread designed to make cracks at a touchy subject. I'm not offended myself, but these types of threads usually don't last long. Then again flame wars usually speed up that process.

Also, Christians and non-Christians tend to forget that there are two sides of a coin. A God of love is what most see, want to see or expect to see without knowing he's also a God of wrath.

This is why questions like “ Why would a Loving God send people to hell ” exist (God doesn't just “send” people to hell anyway so the question really doesn't make sense)

@maccyd: I made this thread to see how many other feel that God is shown in a more friendly and less wrathful way in modern times, not to offend people. Not everyone who wants to discuss religion is looking for a fight.

If you consider God having all life in his hands then no, he's doing just fine allowing all death to occur daily.
