@King Saturn: Not all reboots are improvements of the past

My goodness people take internet fads too seriously.
"Oh this is stupid."
Of course it's stupid, that's why it's funny, same with Gangnam Style, do you people really expect to go on Youtube and find some groundbreaking, thought provoking videos?? I like this Harlem Shake, and I liked Gangnam Style because they are silly, Geez People.
Its a meme. Its not suppose to be original, or new, or a reboot, its a culmination of peaking interesting, en masse replication and obnoxious cultural/personal invasion. So its basically a thing because its basically a thing. Just a thing that millions of people are watching and commenting on and replicating and overplaying and critiquing and parodying and referencing and.
The good. Its a nice reminder of what people can do when motivated, as far as united goals. Its a a commentary and demonstration of communication, technology and emulation that so many Harlem Shake videos exist and were uploaded so quickly. People of different ethnicities, ages, countries, skin colors, genders, educations, careers, lifestyles all being idiots. Thats kind of cool, and shows that the ability for all those people to do something more meaningful together with each other exists. Its likely that for every ten or 20 generic tired videos there will be one thats providing a humorous satire of the crazy and those involved. I like that too.
The bad. Billions and billions of humans could only dream of living in a world where near instant face to face, person to person intercontinental communication and transmission is a thing. Imagine thew news and the ideas and the philosophy and dreams that could be shared on such a network and... that guy is wearing a wolf mask and Hulk smash hands and dry humping a surfboard right... then again planking. Then again how most people use twitter? Then again most things including the point of me just spending a few minutes to sum up more thoughts on Harlem Shake and posting them here in this thread at this site while you (yes you) read this. Cue X-Files music.
When this aired, I laughed for ten minutes straight.
Best Harlem Shake video ever.
