Mostly because his work contradicts the bible's account of how old the Earth is and the creationist belief that God willed two people into existence to start the human species.

Actually, observational science shows something completely different. Evolution (the changing of non-life to life, which then evolves over billions of years to become mankind) is unscientific. Darwin's predictions simply did not come true, and Darwin lived at a time in which he could not possibly have known the complexity of the most basic cell. The most basic cell is quite obviously a product of design.

People are biased, though, and those who cling to evolution oftentimes do so because the alternative, special creation, is unacceptable.

Great post; this has been repeatedly pointed out to this poster, as a matter of fact, just before he created this thread, but he doesn't want to understand what the actual experimental evidence shows (e.g. I demonstrated creation through chemistry in two other threads, one involving a theist becoming an atheist, where I also presented an atheist who became a Christian). Actually, Darwin came up with this theory after he felt that God did not answer one of his prayers and people just embraced this theory in hopes that it was true.

Darwin suffered a lot in his life, it's very sad, RIP.
