Is the TV series any good? I have never watched an episode and the Feds seem to have wiped it off the face of the internet, ITunes don't have it and the Pilot isn't available on the FOX website, so is it any good?
Fringe. Is It Any Good?
I really liked it in the beginning where they still had "Fringe Events". But then they sort of explained it with "Alternate Dimension lol!" and that essentially broke the show, because half of the stuff didn't make sense anymore and all the wonderful and mostly inhumane crazy science became irrelevant all of a sudden. This all results in me saying: Season One, very good. Season two and further, bad.
It's true! I like J.J. Abrams and his manipulative storytelling, but as another user pointed out, Fringe got ridiculous and stopped making sense quickly.
I watch it because I like the comic book references that it has when it comes to plots and stuff. Parallel earths, Watchers, super-soldiers, Skrulls, mutants and the like. It's pretty neat.
Though, I've fallen behind, so yeah.
Seriously, you would think the fear of cancellation would drive Abrams and his writers to create an intriguing storyline.
Well it compared to X Files a lot so that's mainly why I wanted to see it ,cos I love alien abductions and stuff but I'd rather watch an episode first than going out and getting the box set.
It WAS good but like every other show on Fox...it's gone far down hill at this point. Also not to pick on Fox, most shows that I DID like seem to completely fall of the wagon depending on how long they've been running. The creators seemingly never know that they've run out of ideas.

What is that black mar in Battlepig's comment. I see that a lot now
It's a spoiler tag. You have to highlight the black part to see what I wrote underneath it. I put it there because I was thinkign that if @spiderbat87 still wants to watch Fringe, he might not want to have the one big twist in all of the stories spoiled for him, regardless of how nonsensical it turns out to be.

@Battlepig: I actually like that aspect of the show.....granted I am only in season 2....
The concept itself isn't a bad idea. But nothing you've seen up to now is really explained and yet everyone just handwaves one excellent series of a show away in favour of some rather uninspired clone-hijinks. I mean, you don't need alternate dimensions to have characters ask "Is it really Olivia?" Any SciFi-show has had at least one episode like that and they're building multiple seasons around it. Besides, their explanation does not explain anything at all. Think about it. Someone punched a hole into dimensions because of some bollocks excuse only to then discover that people who he previously conducted inhumane experiments on suddenly had translucent skin and dissolved.
