1. Which takes more skill to become good at?
2. Which is generally more accessible to beginners?
3. Which is more enjoyable to watch at high level play?
Bonus - Which do you like better overall and why?
1. Which takes more skill to become good at? That really depends. For example, Arma 3 is a Milsim FPS, and is by far one of the hardest games I have ever played.
2. Which is generally more accessible to beginners? Accessible as in easier, or more likely to be found in store shelves? More likely to be found is FPS, easiest to play depends.
3. Which is more enjoyable to watch at high level play?
This is all opinion, but FPS IMO.

FPS :p
1. Which takes more skill to become good at?
It's fighting game in general I think.
2. Which is generally more accessible to beginners?
FPS. Every gamer I have seen recently has started with fps in their early stages
3. Which is more enjoyable to watch at high level play?
I'm not sure about this question. Do you mean finishing stages? Repeat value? Watching someone else finishing a game?
Bonus - Which do you like better overall and why?
It can be both but I like shooting/fps in general. Their gameplay is simpler and tend to be more fun.

I mainly mean like tournaments and stuff. Idk they have organized tournaments for FPS but kind of like EVO. I know not everybody watches other people compete in tournaments but that's pretty much what I meant.

1) That's hard to determine, really. Not all FPSs play the same. Same goes for fighting games, as well. FPSs like Battlefield and Halo, in my opinion, require more skill to play than Call of Duty. Tekken arguably requires more skill to play than Street Fighter or Smash Bros (which is more about strategy in relevance to the characters, items used, and stages, rather than technical skill).
2) I would have to say that FPSs are a bit more accessible to beginners. There's more of those games to go around.
3) I thinking fighting games are more enjoyable to watch, especially at EVO, Final Round, and WNF.
As for what I like better, I would have said FPSs about a year ago. I'm slowly getting back into fighting games.
1. Which takes more skill to become good at? Fighting games take more effort to learn the ends of outs of character, some you can mash through, others will punish that method. Not to say Fps are a walk in the park it depends on the game. Pay Day 2 is something I've played alot and it can still knock me on my butt at any given day
2. Which is generally more accessible to beginners? Depends on the beginner, do that want to practice or not,With Fps games, I learn as I go
3. Which is more enjoyable to watch at high level play? Get the that Mlg junk out of here
Bonus - Which do you like better overall and why? I do like fighting games alot, yet they are more good in small bursts. I'll play them like mad for a couple months, then every once in blue while(but most games are like that) Fps tend to be the more versatile, you can put it in your Sci Fi epic like Halo or Borderlands, you more Horror driven things like Half life, Bioshock and FEAR or you more realistic stuff like CoD Battlefield. Fighters are more stagnant, it's really just like Big three (SF, Tekken and MK) and some stuff based off other video games or anime
suck.
Okay.
suck.
Okay, you silly goose.
