I thought October was Black History month. Saying that, I do live in the U.K.

Chinese & Japanese is Asian, and Mexican is Hispanic we have a history month for Asians and Hispanic people. National Hispanic History Month is actually between two months. It's from September 15 to October 15th Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month is in May

That's my point, it's no different than half the holidays we celebrate. Naming a day after a person or an event that happened that day doesn't matter, it's just an excuse to have parties and not go to work. I don't always have to hear why Valentine's Day or St.Patrick's Day, or Colombus Day is pointless so why always Black History Month?

Well I think alot of those you mentioned are just as pointless.

Though those are days you mentioned an entire month is a bit much.

I don't find Black History Month pointless. It's good to remind people of the past every now and then, especially the most inspiring parts.

Is it bad that I always forget about "Black History Month?" and that every time I'm reminded my 1st thought is always Kanye saying

"I make black history every day I don't need a month."

Also me personally I don't wish for a "Mexican History Month." I'd rather have September 16th treated like a holiday just like "Cinco de Mayo" is treated. I don't like "Cinco de Mayo" because it aint $#!%, but a victory of a battle. It is not a independence day.

One last thing: That Morgan Freeman video nice, and good point of view.

I feel that that's a stupid solution, to an unsolvable problem. It's nothing against you, or anyone else...but I have no idea how this is supposed to get rid of anything.

@White Mage: The source/issue with racism is that people care and think about it. If they stop, it will end. It's an idyllic solution but not necessarily a simple one.

The source/issue with racism is that people genuinely dislike other people based on their skin shade, and their facial features. Prejudice and superiority comes from other races and skin shades being exalted over others.

Not talking about it won't make people stop believing that it's gross for a black man to be with a white woman, nor will it change the fact that lighter skinned people are viewed as more attractive than darker skinned people.
