Favorite ending to a video game?

Simple question. What are some of your favorite endings to a video game?

Some of mine include:

• Spec Ops: The Line
• Fallout: New Vegas
• Marvel Ultimate Alliance (in all honestly it wasn't anything special, but it just felt good to finally win the game, and the epilogue scene with Uatu was great)
• Batman: Arkham City
• Mass Effect
• Mass Effect 2
• The Walking Dead (Season 1. Haven't played 2 yet)

Also, if you're going to go into detail about a game's ending, please note that there will be spoilers, as some might not have played the game but plan to and not want it spoiled.

I really liked the ending to Arkham City, all in all that is most def one of the greatest games of recent years, man how many hours I spent on that shit I dont know but the figures would scare me for sure

Not sure, i've played to many games. None of them really stood out above others enough for me to remember right now, might come back to it though.

In general I like endings with proper closure, when they let you know what's going to happen with all your companions etc in the future.

Final Fantasy 12.....

Halo 4 ending is one of my favorites.

Hmm... can't really think of some that are my favorite, But here's two I really like:

Arkham City

Tomb Raider 2013 (dual pistols are back, baby!)

Call of Duty 4, Gears of War, Mass Effect, and Arkham City.

Assassin's Creed has the worst endings. Nothing but cliffhangers.

Arkham City and Halo Reach

Metal gear solid 4.

It tied all the plots. It gave a perfect ending to every character (as far as I care Raden became a family man). And Snake finally lived his remaining life as his own man, rather than another soldier or clone.

Batman arkham city.

LOTR: Fellowship of the Ring that game was absolutely my childhood.

Halo Wars: Had a nice ending.

Halo 2: Nice optomistic ending that showed the gamer that more awesomeness was to come

Final Fantasy 9 had a pretty cool ending

The Walking Dead Season 1, no game I have played has ever had that kind of emotional weight

Out of all the games I've beaten Plants Vs. Zombies had the most enjoyable ending. It almost makes me sad to say that.

I think bad endings are more notable than good ones. When you get a good ending, you just think "oh, ok, that's how the story ends", and everything gets wrapped up. It's what you expect. Bad endings are much more notable, because they usually end with a "wtf" moment.

A couple of mine has been mention (TWD and Arkham City) so i'll go with The Last of Us as the last one I remember loving.

Halo Reach as a whole was just sad. It just brings the feels out in you.

Halo Reach wasn't very emotional for me because the people who were dying around me were largely faceless cyborgs I didn't really give a shit about.

That being said, I agree with the OP in saying that Spec Ops: The Line's ending was very memorable. An excellent ending to a an excellent game.

fallout 3. that's a pretty unique one.

Final Fantasy X made me cry like a baby.

Shadow of the Colossus

Every Mario game where Peach bakes me a cake at the end. I love cake, okay?

I really liked the ending to Morrowind. Not as much as I enjoyed the beginning, but still, the ending is good.

I'm told Bastion should be in this thread somewhere, but I haven't played it, so...

Pretty much every bad video game ending since it was over. Any good video game I don't want it to end so the ending sucks.

Infamous 1 and 2 still shake me to the core every time I think about them (The Good Endings at least)

It's them sequel-baits, son.

The question is, which ending are we talking about here? Considering, that game had multiple.

Also, Mario Party games when you come out in first place after 30 turns and get all the stars beating everyone else. One of the best endings.

Mass Effect 3 :p

Legend of Zelda Link's Awaking made me sad, but it was still a good ending.

For the most part... AC IV had a somewhat more fullfilling and self contained ending. But yeah I agree most Assassin's Creed games end on sh*t notes.

Metal Gear Solid ending

I'm gonna have to agree with you on Spec Ops: The Line. I really didn't expect that to be such a story driven game, and it's probably the only one I've gone back through to play all the endings.
