The fact that he only got 5 years PROBATION shows how screwed up our justice system is.........if you can even call it that. This clearly isnt manslaughter so why did the idiot judge give him that? This was pre-meditated murder. The man was already sentenced yet this guy planned a way to murder him......and not even in a smart way. Freaking Idiot.
And even more so...A couple weeks ago a man was given 30 years (?) for beating his wife to death after he came home to find that she had murdered 2 of his children. Yet he isnt given a manslaughter charge??

The question and point of this thread is what would you do if a man kidnapped and rape your children? And What if he kills them after he's done that to them.... What would you do? Personally, I wouldn't kill the man, but I would make him feel to the point that he wished he were dead. I would break all his limbs off, Steven Segal style and tear one of his eyes out and break his lower spine.
No really, in cases like this I don't really know what to say....I mean the father probably felt it was the right thing to do, I mean the justice system often produces inadequate results...but on the other hand, you just can't go around killing people....either way....its an act of vengance, not justice

@turoksonofstone: It would have been worse, but at the same token he had more right then anybody else to hurt that man. I know if I was in his shoes, I'd probably beat the man to death, not shoot him. I say he should be let go and can probably get off by pleading temporary insanity.
Heck, I'm all for bringing back the idea of "outlaws." When someone is convicted of a particularly heinous crime, have him/her declared an outlaw: the protections of the law no longer apply to them, and anyone can kill them without repercussion. The bad guys get theirs and we still maintain some semblance or an orderly society. Ineffectual laws are not much better than anarchy.
