I know this is probably better suited to Giant Bomb but I like it here better :) but anyway what universe would you rather be in, Mass Effect or Elder Scrolls? You could be a High Elf mage or Nord warrior or a Salarian Spectre Agent or Quarian technician, the choices are endless. I cant make up my mind, it mostly comes down to what you like best, Sci Fi or Fantasy?
Elder Scrolls Or Mass Effect?
Right now I prefer Skyrim over Mass Effect 2, but it could be that because the game is nearly 2 years old. I'd wait for ME3 before making a comparison.
But to be fair the only thing they really have in common is that their both RPG's. Their play style is vastly different and one game is fantasy while the other is sci fi.

ha that's what I thought but if you where a high ranking Elf mage life would be pretty cushtyWhat universe i'd rather be in? Mass Effect. I like my comforts. =)
lol I had the same discussion, thats why I made this threadhah, my coworkers and I were just discussing the differences between the two.
@spiderbat87: Yeah, we agreed that even though Bethesda games are much more "open world" and there's a lot more you can do, the linear style of Mass Effect is better because it doesn't get overwhelming.

It's funny because I normally get overwhelmed very easily but playing Bethesda games I finally feel free in a game.
Both are amazing and hold my favourite genres, but Mass Effect destroys Elder Scrolls in combat, character integration and story.
Graphics are debatable but not entirely comparable.
Mass Effect, hands down for me. The Elder Scrolls universe is amazing, don't get me wrong but I'm much more of a futurists. The ability to be outfitted with biotics, interstellar travel, interacting with other species and have sex with blue women is just too much for me to say no to.
Mass Effect. Elder Scrolls is on a pedestal and people give it just a bit too much credit than it deserves. Skyrim for example, while an amazing game, is equally matched by Mass Effect 2.
Skyrim is a better place and a relatively safer place to live in compared to the high tech yet reaper-infested galaxy of Mass Effect. And as my friend ssejllenrad has said, a world without floating mammoths is not a world worth living in. LOL.

QFT.

Mass Effect, Skyrim doesn't have memorable characters or story.
You could be right. But, the overall experience is desirable, in my opinion.

Mass Effect has better characters but Bioware games have always focused on character development. The overall story, atmosphere, gameplay and graphics in Skyrim are superior making it the overall better game.
